Is plumbing tape safe for oxygen fittings? It's all over my regs and tanks, but not sure if its a special kind.

white teflon tape is oxygen safe and should be used on all NIP fittings.
Teflon tape should _NEVER_ be used on a "B" fittins or on tank valves (CGA-540). These are compression fittings and anything that gets between the brass will eventually cause a leak. If your tank fittings leak replace them.

Yah what Doug says.... Only use tape on tapered pipe threads, not on any "compression", "B" style welding fittings (hose and regulator)....

yeah.... I've seen and used the yellow stuff....
I've been told by several plumbers that they always used the white tape before the yellow tape came out, and never had a problem.
I think the yellow is mainly a color code thing. the tape is thicker too...

It is thicker, but it is also specially formulated so that it does not interact chemically with *any* fuel gas.
White works universally.
