Okay, so how does this work. What kind of piece or pieces are you suppose to bring? Is it just one or do you need more to ante up? Is this how you bet. I need to know what to bring. Does it have to be torched work or can it be furnace work?
Thanks
Jane

You put whatever art or product you make/sell into the pot at the beginning of the game. That gets you a stack of chips to play with as long as you're in the game.
There's only a single buy-in at the beginning of one piece of work. It can be fused, blown (furnace or torch), DVDs, gift certificates, whatever it is you have to offer from what your glass related work is.
The game is played tournament style. Depending on how many people enter between 3-8+ people will win prizes; the more people who play the more prize winners there are. The first place winner gets the first pick of two items from the "glass pot" and then they take turns in order of place picking one thing each until the glass is gone.
From last year it seemed the retail value of piece on the prize table were between $20-50 for the most part. There were a few real stand outs that go first, but I don't think anyone needs to feel pressure to enter a $150+ goblet or sculpture. Personally I will try to enter something I've but about 30-45 minutes of my life into.

I'm pretty sure that in the event of losing one must "show their tits".

most people who enter don't really know how to play poker. It's a fun game, no one will yell at you for taking your time or asking questions. Poker is a combination of skill and luck, and it's not an even balance. Sometimes un-skilled players get lucky, sometimes skilled players have no luck.
I would suggest learning the basics of Texas Hold'em online at one of the various free poker sites. The basics are quick and easy to learn - give it a couple hours and you'll be ready to play a live game.
... I would be down to play a for-glass game of bullshit or screw your neighbor or something.... hell even Uno if someone can refresh me on the rules.

draw two, reverse, skip, wild, and the dreaded, all-powerful wild/draw four! its a mile a minute! For-glass uno would rock.... I would like to be in the poker game, tho :cane:

45 minutes, huh? that's reasonable. do people typically bring pipes? or is it more of a grab bag?

Actually, AGI is a non pipes event. You're welcome to bring your work for private sharing/showing, but in general there's no pipes being made/sold at AGI.
I am going to kick in a nice marble or a pendant.

that sounds good... pendants for days... are pipemakers like, shunned at this event? are we not allowed to make pipes there? does anyone ever make pipes there?

Come by the shop this week.... I'll fill you in somewhat....
As for pipe makers - I'd guess at minimum it's 50% pipe makers.... there's a building full of them - and pipes aren't shunned so much as making pipes is set aside for a while to focus on other fields.

theres a good chance i'm gonna make it this year and if i do tom asked me to help with running things(i promised not to try killing anyone this year).one thing i want to change is the addition of a "bounty" adds more prizes and excitement to the game.with a "bounty" you could lose the tournament but still walk away with a small prize.i'll know monday if i'm going.and if i am i'll start a new poker thread with more details.
