Hey all, I know that most if us are hurting a bit with the economy so I thought I'd pass this along. Below is a press release from Kittrell Riffkind in Dallas, TX. They are the only consignment gallery we deal with and for good reason. They do great sales and are truly a joy to work with. So hope this helps out a few.

Ornament Extravaganza
It's Almost That Time Again!

As we told you last month, our annual Ornament Extravaganza will be from November 22nd through December 31st this year. We would like to invite you to participate in this fun event with us. Our customers look forward to it all year long!

Those of you who have not shown ornaments with us before, please send us images. (They can be snapshots, digital images, sketches, Polaroids, whatever you have, just something to give us an idea what you're doing...) This will help insure a greater variety and assure that we don't overlap too closely with the ornaments that we have already been showing.

We are again asking for a minimum of 12 ornaments from each participating artist.

The deadline for receiving the work at the Gallery is Friday, November 7th. Please give us a call or drop us an email to let us know if you are interested in participating in this event.

Couldn't find any info on the website, or a email address. Is this from a newsletter or something?

Hey their e-mail is: artglass@kittrellriffkind.com

I'd address it as "Ornament Extravaganza submission"
and you want to get in contact with Michael Riffkind or Barbera Kittrell

good luck!

Thanks too Josh. I wonder if they'd like funky hollow soft ornaments. They're kind of fun to make.

Well hell if you're giving out reps points make sure you are aware they do a perfume bottle show in Feb and a goblet show in June/July! They're a great gallery and represent their artists very well. Good luck1

Do the ornaments have to be blown?

Sara

No they don't have to be blown. We blow only about 10% of our ornaments. I personally think you'll do the best with something that's different. They're going to jury all their ornaments and I would guess that anything coming close to another artist's work would not be accepted. They've got like 100+ artists that take part in the show so I would say get real creative, have fun and make something that you haven't seen out there before. Good luck!

i've worked with kittrell-riffkind since 2001. they're nice folks (michael's a glass artist too) and pay on time. they ONLY do consignment, so if you ever get orders in the future, that's what it will mean. they're in a good section of dallas, and have been around for a while, so stuff will sell eventually. i think the medium to low end is their gig, but i've had a couple decent things go through there. so anyways.... i give em' the stamp of approval, it'll be worth your time

its your basic low end craft gallery. They are super nice, whatever you do don't mention pipes, they are nice but really really snooty. its hooked to a flameworking and flatglass studio that Michael runs and he is hella cool, had a-some really really great conversations with him.

If they are low end then what is high end? They have some of the best boro artists work from around the US. Really can some one clue me into what high end means in realation to calling Kittrel low end?

ok, sorry. Dont take it as an insult, i have my work there its a great gallery. but really they carry low priced items from all the artists in the gallery. The nicest piece in there was a Greg Fiddler bowing form duo that is great! I love his work but I also know it was one of his simplest versions.

i take back low end. i'll call them your basic craft gallery.

here is high end craft gallery.... http://www.habatat.com/artists.asp

and there are other galleries that sell craft that make Habatat look like a fucking strip mall....

the ornament show is great at Kittrell as well as the goblet show, I am glad I am closer this year so I can make it back up to see the opening. Sedal did I meet you at the last Texas artists invitational there? I can't remember, I met so many great artists. if not I hope we meet up next time!

Bumping this up for last minute submissions, like me. :) We have until the 7th of Nov to get photos in and the pieces in the mail.

So, has anyone else submitted photos and gotten some ornaments into the show? Just curious.
