View Full Version : scrap tubing
I busted a piece of acrylic tube off of a filter for my aquarium. I looked online and found it on several plastics site but I have to buy a six foot section and the shipping is a killer (It will end up costing me about $20.00 to get a 1.5 inch section of tube).
Does anybody have a scrap piece of glass tube they would be willing to stick in an envelope and mail to me regular mail ? I would be heppy to reimburse a fair amount for the tube and postage.
The tube is 1.5 inches long. The OD is .5". The ID is 3/8".
If you have a piece, send me a private message and I'll give you my mailing address.
Thanks

If you go to your local LFS you can get that kind of plastic tubing for Uber-cheap. it's around $2.00 for a 30 inch length...
aloha!
my lfs has tube but it's not rigid . . .it's kind of semi-flexible. I've looked everywhere for this and I just think a scrap of glass will be my best bet.
thanks for the suggestion.
can anybody help me out ?

wal-mart, petsmart, any local aquarium place caries that stuff....
i really don't know exactly what 3/8"x.05" is in metric without looking it up but i think the closest would be 9mmx1mm and nobody stocks that stuff for production.
it's only $.99 for 5' at winship (http://www.winshipdesigns.com/home2/ws3/smartlist_100/simax_glass_tubing.html) though.

It's half inch OD. Or 12.7 medium wall I believe.
I have 12.7 heavy which has an ID of 3/10 of an inch if that would work for you, let me know. I can pop some in the mail for you ASAP.

doesn't winship also have a 50.00 minimum?
really? i guess i wouldn't know since they're a couple minutes from my house but i guess it sounds reasonable.
mecha - I'd love to try it . . .
If you will PM me your mailing address, I will send you a self addressed stamped envelope to return mail a small piece to me. I've checked everywhere here and nobody stocks RIGID tubing that size. Looked at WM, HD, Petsmart (they have tubing that is semi-flex and not rigid). This seems like an easy find, but I assure you it is not.
Thanks again to all for their suggestions.
