Is it possible to melt obsidian? in a kiln or by a torch?

Short answer is yes.
Depends on type of obsidian but your looking around 2400F up to 2600F

yes, put it in the kiln ramp up to 950 til the piece has soaked up some heat. You can shape it in the torch but it does work pretty stiff. If you have some quartz punty it would serve well or maybe some turbo.

yah quartz would help. ialways end up melting my punty before i can shape the obsidian much. then what will you do swith it? its not compatible to cool with boro, in my experience.
