Wow burning rubber stinks

I tried my first stick stack today with some borostix. I now know that rubber bands burn easily, make a lot of smoke, and will adhere to darn near anything they come in contact to when molten.

I use hose clamps, much less stink.

fyi. zip ties also stink, make almost as much smoke, and stick to anything hot just like rubber bands.
try nichrome wire, or hose clamps.

I thought I was going to lose the color, but I think I can salvage all but two sticks. I just had to wait for it to extinguish first :D

I'll try wire next time, and a slightly shorter tube...that part didn't make it, and, like a dolt, I almost burnt my hand because when I baptized it I realized about a millisecond before the steam shot up the tube that I should have capped the end of it.

Just to let you know, I have had a couple of occassions that the bands burnt and melted, but they do burn off clean in every instance I've had. Even encased within the stick stack tube. Go figure, I was just pissed and gave it a try and saw no remenance of the rubber after finishing the stack. This has happened to me at least 3-4 times and I get the same outcome every time.
