there is already a huge thread about this topic, but i just filled my friends dewar yesterday and called around and found a place that filled it for 64 dollars. so i guess if you own a dewar in new mexico its possible to get them filled for 70 dollars or less.
$ 12.44 per fill / 353's ? the big bottle tanks . we have two and it's only 5 miles up the road. running 2 phantoms & a lynx as of now .

Why such a huge difference in price on the same product?
Oxygen Service Co. (welding place) $23.00 plus tax for a K tank.
Used to be $18.00 until gas went up, like 2 years ago.

got any chics working at your oxy place?
when i first started an account where i am now i told the people there that i'd be in all the time and bearing gifts.. (not many flameworkers in Pittsburgh)
three or four christmas ornaments here, a piece of trash there. even some grass fed beef from my local amish farmer from time to time.
i never pay much more than $50 for six tanks of oxy, that usually comes with two free propanes. k's, t's and 20 lb-ers
oh yeah, if i don't bring all the dogs in with me i sometimes pay a bit more...

75 t's or an assortment of k's with the usual s' size for a days demo on a calendar year...no liquid for me. mostly comps for a favor in a small town atmosphere.

i pay 28ish per k tank after taxes.... pretty ridiculous, i gotta ask them about dropping the price but not sure how to go about it...
helped my buddy get an oxy tank from the local welding place yesterday, oh man i dont miss those guys at all...they quickly reminded me of why the home oxygen generator system is worth so much to me. they apparently reorganized their business, one of the guys who was always chill is no longer working there. they lost my company in the system i guess because its been a while since i was there. when i explained i paid $8 per 100cf, around 24 bucks per K, they told me that was about half their normal price and that it was like "giving it away". when i told them how much it costs me at home to make my own tank (about 4 bucks) they got angry. sold my buddy 2 tanks at that price and said it would be more expensive next time. when i said "see ya" the guy told me "hopefully not" as i walked out.
it costs them probably a dollar or less per tank, i understand they've gotta make $$$ too but they wanted me to pay $45 for 250cf? i gotta eat too man...
thanks again OGSI.

I'm a couple hours N. of n3rd & it cost me $38 after tax & fees to fill a 250K tank. I switched to liquid recently & paid $125 to fill a 160Litre liquid tank & $50 a month for rent. The liquid has lasted me 2 about months already,so for the price it's been amazing. I'm going to get rid of it for a few months though because it requires too much time, you have to work at least a little bit EVERY day so it doesn't vent out & I've had no luck selling much,so I'm going to take a little break for $$ reasons, but if you work a good bit & can get liquid,GET IT ,no matter what the cost!!!!!!!!:chilling:
PS. What oxy gen. system are you using n3rd?
earthtones: og20 + rix microboost, from ogsi.com. i fill 5 "K" tanks chained together while i'm at work, then work off what the machines produced each night. it rocks my world. PM me lets trade contact info, if you ever roll through san jose we can melt some glass!
also have you adjusted the economizer on your liquid dewar? if you find the pressure is climbing to 250 or whatever your tank vents at every day, chances are the economizer is just set too high. if you set it down to 100, the tank should slow down on building internal pressure once it reaches 100. of course, it will always keep building pressure, but long as its not crazy hot weather it should build slow enough you can take a few days off and it wont vent. send me a picture of your dewar if you need a hand locating the economizer.

im startn to think i better have a talk with the oxy guys, Im payin 280$ a month delivered.. for a 160 -180L what it says on the invoice.. 3$ a day rent 180 for fill delivery.. but no deposit or anything either so that might be good..
the T tanks are around 25$ when my friend fills em, and 44$ when I fill.. so I dont fill it.
Im gona call Air Gas tomorrow and see if they can do any better.. if they can ill call praxair and see if they will match it..

I just started with a local welding supplier, ArcSource, Seabrook NH. First day they had me confused with a welding shop with my last name and billed me 18.65 for a 251 cf tank. I didn't know of the snafu yet, so I'm psyched. Next exchange, they catch it and tells me $41. a fill. Politely balking at this escalation, I was able to talk them down to $24.95 by assuring them I'd go thru at least a tank a week. So that's where we are. Of course, now that I've seen the promised land of 18.65, I must forge ahead thru a program of constantly re-visiting the other 'better customer" issue. Erosion over time wears a strong position down every time. Blasting just leaves a scar.
He has quoted liquid at $87 a fill for a 230L tank, $27 del charge and a yr lease of $405. $114 delivered sounds good, just concerned about low use (20 hr wk) and the tank just disapating in my shop. Even at that, I should get more than 4 compressed tanks worth out of it.

well yea wine gas got brought by aires who got brought by tri-gas...each time accross the board price increases i went from 14.95 for k to 16.95 to 18.95 2.50 reg fees + tax- it blows...2 much for k's i like 30. for two tanks out da door- but at least the same guys work a the desk and they are alway really nice, an we always have a laugh about prices work whatever. Whole lot of lampers go as well- so i'll jus dream of a concentrater 4 now.....

Cool n3rd,I'll hit you up in a PM. My dewar is just a standard one from Airgas,I set the pressure builder knob as low as it can go,but I'm guessing the economizer is different? Since I've had it the pressure won't go down below 140-150 no matter if I work for an hour or 8 hours & it's at 200 every morning, starts venting at 230-ish.
Crip, you should def. shop around, that sounds a little bit pricey. I just use good ole' Airgas & they charge $125 to fill $ 50 a month rent & $35 for deliv. ,they're the cheapest in town though,I talked with a couple other companies & they wanted around $100 a month rent & $175 to fill + deliv. fees,so I think Airgas is alright. The trick is to call & get a hold of the sales manager for your region & act " business like",act like your running a "glass blowing company" & they will take you a little more serious & give you a better deal, knowing that you need to run your "business" & you will give them repeat monthly business, sounds cheesy, but I found it worked for me,most the guys are pretty cool though & have dealt with other glass blowers.
Kebira, that's cheap as hell you lucky bastard,at that price, you can't go wrong.
dNug42,where are you at in Norcal? Are you talking about Wine country gas? They're right by me in Santa Rosa, but charge almost double what Airgas does at this point.
it sounds like your economizer is set to 200. the economizer is different than the pressure builder, it's usually a small hex nut on something that is shapen like a bell. maybe this helps:

$18.55 per 251 cf tank (I think that's about equivalent to a T tank), plus $3/mo rental fee per tank from Badger welding in Madison, WI. Just bought 3 - 5 PSI/5 LPM oxy concentrators to run my Natty 3 and the minor on my redmax (converting it to a 4 stud). Hopefully that will be able to cut down my oxy usage. Not using enough to justify a liquid (yet), but even at what I'm paying for my tanks, I still feel like my costs are too high, especially when you consider how much it costs to have cases of clear shipped to the midwest.

$814 bucks a liquid!!! I'm so sorry Mort.
Anyway, now is the time to strike. Everyone should shop around and collect some price quotes. Gas suppliers around the country are fighting for new business. If you can make a deal now, you can solidify a rate before everything goes back up. My shop goes through a couple liquid tanks a week. So obviously, I'm constantly trying to hustle for better rates. There has never been a better time to renegotiate your accounts. Especially, from the larger national gas companies. With the crumbling economy, they are desperate for business.
Don't let these gas companies push you around. Glass blowers on an average use way more oxygen then welders. Your business is good for their company.
