my company is a sole proprietorship, meaning i am the only owner employee etc. if i get a cheque made to my company's name can i just endorse it to myself and put it in a personal bank account? this stuff is kinda confusing for me

thanks!

EDIT: i'm in Canada if that makes any difference...

In most cases no. You will need a DBA (Doing Business As) account, most banks will give you free accounts now days. You will just need a minimum deposit to open it.

hi...

im a self-employed worker ..?. if that is the word in english.. ? ... i think like sole proprietor u said...
simplest think for me.. im in quebec... it cost 32$ a year to have ur liscense, u are a registered buisness with your name.... and i can register as many buisness name as i want, etc... with the same 32$ i run my computer shop at home too....

u can declare taxes, get insurance, anything with this....

for the bank, shop a little, its stupid, but the first one charged me like 20$ a month, + 150$ to have buisness cheque made....
the second one they gave me an account, 5$ for unlimited transaction a month, and they gave me 200 buisness cheque to my compani name for free....

u can write a cheque to you from you.. no problem, or from your compani to you....

im a bit lazy as i use the same account for everything, my buisness and me... but anyway thats how the accountant do it at the end of the year... because YOU are the company... if u make over 30 000$ u need to declares taxes... but can claim em back too on what u pay....
even if u do not make 30 000$ u can choose to declare taxes anyuway... ... its more saving this way to declare taxes, cuz i cant reclaim some onto al msot everythin i buy.......

hope this help...
any others questions dont ask... ive been self-employed for like 8 years..
