First of all, I want to say that this place is such an awesome, invaluable resource for any lampworker, from those looking to buy their first torch to people who have 25+ years behind one.

With that said, there is one element missing that's come up in multiple threads in the past (dating back to EZboard) that have since been deleted for violating the TOS.

In this forum, we allow businesses to be criticized and called out publicly for shady or deceitful practices, but not individuals. Businesses are forced to go on the defensive and address publicly whatever issue someone has with them in an attempt to preserve their good name, as they should. Essentially we have a Better Business Bureau operating within our own community.

Unfortunately, the same does NOT exist for individuals and I've seen thread after thread about the same con artists get deleted over the years because it violates the TOS.

Why is this? Because there are two sides to every story? I agree with that logic but when there are 10+ sides against ONE INDIVIDUAL'S STORY, I find it only fair that that person be put in the same situation as these businesses and be forced to publicly defend their actions.

How is this fair and why do these threads get deleted? I've had conversations in private about getting screwed over by the same individual (and seen their names come up in and get deleted from threads over the years) with people but anything posted publicly gets deleted.

Does our community deserve only to be protected from businesses and not individuals?

Is it a legal issue involving libel or slander?

I'm just curious because I'm not the only victim of this and I certainly wish there was a warning thread available to read before I ended up in my current situation.

I just wanted to hear the commmunity's thoughts on this...

your post is really too vague to really figure out what you're asking but that's okay because it's not going anywhere anyway. to answer the basic question;

from the tos;

9. Our community is not a venue for personal or private vendettas. Please do not use the forum as a venue for the resolution of personal disputes with members or companies.

and to the larger point;

from the tos;

12. Discussions about moderator or administrator actions are welcome in email or local private messages, but should not be discussed in public forums. This is out of respect for the members and moderators or policy involved.

if you have a problem with a member here and you think something should be done about it then write a pm to any of the staff members. the staff will discuss the situation and if others have complained about the same individual that will be taken into consideration.

this topic isn't really open to public debate so i'm closing the thread. if you have an opinion on how the board should be managed please know that we are interested and send it to a staff member for consideration.
