it's a yellowish soft glass made with lead and uranium ( some of the older vasaline glass is JUST uranium).

Under a black light it glows yellow, in day light it's kind of a creamy greenish yellow.

I have a small collection of soft glass stuff bye a artist named Gibson and some with a B stamped in the bottom I love the stuff but feel like a little old lady buying nick knacks. I have a swan some birds and a indian head toothpick holder All Vaseline or what is called custard. The Custard is almost as cool as the Vaseline glass as it is opaque.

Trev just made some beads out of it and combined it with some other color beads.. He just put it in his display case with some of his collection of old vaseline glass.. The beads are laying right up against the light..

I have a small amount of uranium rod and a fun thing to do is lay out dots or lines for vortexes and then cover it with some other color. in day light you see a the other color and cant see the uranium, but head into a dark room with a black light and you see the uranium vortex only. made one for my son who could care less about glass but he was pretty pleased. picture is under the black light showing the uranium vortex

ok...vaseline glass is just uranium glass....that explains that.

I have always wondered wether or not uranium is bad for one's health. i read some big article once about it and it measured types of exposure but i couldn't decifer wether or not it was harmful. Maybe you guys or gals have some useful knowledge about it. :-)

P.s. I'm drunk hehehehehehehehe

Hi all,

I have not posted in quite awhile.

I still have a small supply of Boro U-glass available in my ebay store.

See my Uranium Glass Information page for an artical on the glass that was published in the Flow.

Every one should make up there own mind on safety and there is a lot of information on the net. Do a search on "uranium glass safety"

Vaseline glass is good for dildos I hear. I have some uranium but, I quit going to black light bars and turning out my lights just to see my glass glow isn't worth the cost imo.

It says the U-glass has a COE of 40 -- has anyone had compatibility issues with it?

i believe uglass was made to be a seal between boro and metal?
anyway it seems to work with boro without COE issues at least some
i havnt tryed any of the antique pieces to check if its compatable as well
ive taken small bits off the tubing and mixed with clear with no cracking

yeah it sure can be expensive ,i payed 175 bucks for a lb of solid rod but lucked out on the tube it was 3 lbs and i got it for 150 for 2 sizes 50mm+ and 30mm
both came from an old glassblowers that were liquidating their shops

being it isnt made anymore and there isnt really much around i guess thats why its so expensive
