View Full Version : who has used the CBS copper foil with dicro!
I watched a vid of it being used with a minor and some soft glass. It says compatible with all coe's It looks as if the role up would be easy as pie. Then sleeve it up only drawback seams to be 40 bucks for a piece 12x6 inches. I would be all over a 12x12 for that price maybe once it is out for a minute it will go down! On the plus side after your done you have some copper foil to play around with!
The Cbs rep says it is twice as thick as any of there coatings on glass. So if its density is double it could be pulled a little further Or maybe a base coat and then roll sheat over it.
As always just looking for some info from someone who has tested it with the boro!

I'm amazed it doesn't come off for you, when someone here actually ran a finger on it it pops off in little pieces.. Trev actually put some of it in a nice size marble and included some of the copper and the copper turned into neat little balls.. There is a picture of it on the Picture page.
Its very easy to use..
Where can I watch the video your talking about? Sounds cool.

so do you heat a point and roll it up? watched the video and it just flakes up and doesn't stick....

or it burns off the boro after re-heating, before the encasement.

Howard from cbs had me test some of this. I had problems getting it to stick to boro as well. I raged it and could only get minimal results. tried everything I could think of but I didn't get any nice results. there may be some possibilities for this to work in the future but may need some work. I sent some to a friend of mine that does furnace work and he loved it.

I looked at some sheets today and they were totally cracked and ruined with the dichro all broken off of the copper, and that's how it arrived from what I understand. So apparently its a pain in the butt to keep around and safe. I don't see how it could possibly be easier to have to put both layers of glass around the dichro instead of just having to back one side. The few people who have tried to use it with boro were not impressed. -matt

I have played with it and also cannot get it to stick. I am working on some ways to make it work and think ya'll should as well since it is new and neat. It would, however be nice if it came in a variety of colors.

ok, so we aren't the only ones? both methods failed multiple times with boro.
