So I just wanted to let y'all know that I have no shame and if someone wants to sponsor my trip to AGI (buy me a ticket), I am not too proud to beg.
After you are taken care of you could always forward the leftovers to me. I would not mind at all.

butterfly bobs, i sincerely hope that you are able to find a way to afford to attend agi. unfortunately, the fact is that most of our community lacks the resources needed to afford such luxuries. most of our staff work our asses off with the hopes of someday being able to afford to attend again, or in most cases, for the first time.
when we call on the community for help we are asking the group to take part in providing for the welfare of another. sometimes members of our community encounter crisis level hardships and the group comes together for them. sometimes we can help by spreading information and/or donating time to a cause. more frequently, we are asked to give money.
i would just ask that you and the rest of the community reserve these charitable fundraisers for situations where a community member is in a crisis situation and they have no other alternative but to turn to us for help. what if you or your friend became suddenly injured and required imminent help to preserve your safety or that of your family? would you sincerely want to compete for the same resources and heartstrings that your pulling here?
>> i apologize for pasting in the last two paragraphs of this post (changed slightly for context) from another i made this morning. it's just that there is a rash of people "begging" for things that are not necessary for the survival of our members and/or their families. we'd like to see this trend nipped in the bud.
if any of you are ever truly in need of help for something dire and you're a part of this community *of course* we are interested in knowing and will do what we can to help.
this should be common sense, please don't make us create a rule to add to the terms of service with regard to this.
thank you.

sorry to piggy back you for a second time. But if people are wanting to give I strongly suggest United Way. They kept food on our table in December. I used to be extremely anti-charity organizations due to the high operation costs, but I am seeing the light.

I guess my humor was lost here. I was only joking. I did not expect anyone to take me seriously.

United Way here in NC sucks due to inflated salary and ego of local people. I hear the same problem plagues Red Cross at the national level. The local food banks and women's shelters get my support. Glad to hear that United Way actually helped someone. I was a contributor every year for many years.

it's all good, wry humor and sarcastic subtext is often lost in forum discussion.

No way, seriously.
when the font is invented it will be named after you chris.
It is a shame we don't have a sarcasm font. Maybe someone could make one of those smiley face's with a sign saying sarcastic comment. Also one with a boot shoved in its mouth would be quite appropriate for me!
