Thanks!

Hopefully it will be used! It is small (around 16-20 oz capacity), so it is for steeping and serving. I have made larger pots for stove use, but those where on a lathe.

I have plans for a sake set using amber purple tubing. I just need to find more free time!

my boy c mac makes dope tea kettles you can use on the stove, but they're only in clear. his color ones are nice but i don't think you can put them on the stove.... i could be wrong.

i can't make this into a link for some reason, so you'll have to copy/paste. its worth it, i promise.

Thanks, I hope they like it. It is a wedding gift. I got some nice loose leaf teas to give with it.

Glacier, I have never sold one of these, so I have no real idea what to charge. It took a while to make, as it is not my normal kind of work. I imagine if I made more, I could get the production time down quite a bit. This is only the third teapot I have made on the bench.

I want to get some of my other non pipe, non scientific work together for a website, but I need to find more free time! I really like making these tea sets as well as things like wine glasses and goblets.

This work is amazing. How did you learn to make the teapot? Is the handle solid or hollow? I love the contrast of etched & unetched sections.

It's really beautiful.

....How did you learn to make the teapot? Is the handle solid or hollow?...

I just kind of figured it out. If you can make cups and stuff, the basic form is pretty straight forward. I have only made a few on the bench, and a couple on the lathe. The very first one I made was really small (maybe 12 ounce) just to get an idea of how to do it.

The handle is solid. I really like the contrast of the sandblasted sections as well. I have been toying around with the blaster for a little over a year now. It is fun stuff. Striking colors that haze up (like ap) are awesome for etching. The haze blows right off and the contrast makes a very organic/antique look.

Thanks for looking!

great job, a tea set is something i've really wanted to make, but i am too scared to waste a bunch of materials.

as for the clear one on the stove, i would think that putting it on the stove would crack it, or user error would sooner or later... like putting the hot pot on a cold table?..

Boro is perfectly safe for stove use. Before the name branded pyrex cookware was bought out, they made stove top safe frying pans, and pots. One of the reasons boro was invented was to resist thermal shock.

Labware is made from boro as well, and plenty of liquids (some with higher boiling points than water) are heated on bunson burners in labs all around the country.

I would not take one off an open flame and put it on a cold granite counter top, but it can easily be used on the stove. In fact, you can buy boro teapots and coffee makers pretty much anywhere that sells home goods.

If you are worried about wasting materials, just go small and use clear. Less materials than a bubb!

nice job! ive been workin on teapots lately too. This one is a perc, meaning you can put teabags in the top half and water in the bottom and throw it on the stove and brew that shit up. I dont know how many times I can heat it up before it blows hahaha, im glad most people just want to look at em.
