I wouldn't mind some cooler weather. Yesterday was brutal, you would walk outside and it was like getting punched in face, its damn hot. I wanted to go fishing on my kayak, but I would have got a gnarly sunburn.

-6 at the moment, supposed to get down to -14 tonight. I had the day off because they closed the schools, but it was too damn cold to blow glass, so I cleaned the house and fixed two computers. Looking forward to this weekend, it's supposed to get up to 25 or 30, so I'm planning on spending the whole weekend in front of the torch.

Well you guys are good, I couldn't handle that cold again.

We're currently experiencing a cold front (don't laugh) and it's been raining fine fine rain for two days solid.

When I switched on the kiln this morning it read 19degC before the power kicked in. Made a nice change to work all day fully clothed (with boots on, not sandals).

Sat here tonight in a rugby shirt and tracksuit bottoms drinking tea -brrr!

This morning I had a huge pot of boiling water I was steam bending wood in, makes a nasty black sluge. When I tossed it out my aim was a little off & I through it right into my soffit, SHIT! Froze instantly. Black shit everywhere, wife is still bitchin. Another try w/ clean water & better aim worked great. Almost all steam but what doesn't vaporize turns to snow/ice before it hit the ground. That was at -13.

Man that's COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!! :bummed: I feel bad for you icecubes, man,I'd just be chillin' next to the fireplace with some hot tea & not movin',forget working unless you have a serious heater,or wookie fur,sh*t.Man,Dom,Chicago is the coldest f*ing place I've ever been, just the windchill there will kill you,it feels super cold. I took a shower there in Feb. & wen't out & my hair turned into icecicle dreads, really. I just came in from the shop because I was "cold " & saw this thread,so I checked accuweather for the official temps. Right now 50*,low tonight 36 ,high today & tommorrow 70* & sunny, lol,"cold",not really, but it's all relative I guess. We're an hour N of SF & we've definately had a heatwave here this week,it was 83* on Mon.,this time of year 50-70* for the high is normal, but 50's-60's & rain on & off the most common. One thing about the North CA coast a lot of people back east don''t know is it doesn't rain hardly a drop here from May-Oct.,we get most or all our rain from Nov.-April,the ocean fog( that's why they filmed that cheesy movie here) keeps everything alive during the summer nights, except the grass, which all dies & turns the golden color CA & the West is famous for. Anyways,it's always cold at night here though,if it's 85* during the day,it'll be 45-55* at night, even in July. I grew up in good ol' PA though,so I do know what COLD is & I don't miss it,if I do wan't to be really cold,I'll drive up to Tahoe & board when I have the extra time & $$$:chilling:

How cold is it?

It's so cold...I went to take a pee outside, my outtie became an innie and forced me to turn tricks at the bus station for oil money.

It's so cold...even the bum's rush is in slow motion.

It's so cold...I got an ice coffee and some redneck showed up asking if he could put up a little tent and go fishing.

Sorry, one of those moods :)

It's currently 3 F outside with a -11 wind chill. The high tomorrow is expected to be a comparatively mild high of 12 F.

Oh, and tonight was the first time this winter the moisture inside my nose froze when I went outside. I hate that more than icicles in my beard.

As long as your victims are deserving lol, its really mean. Another great car trick, freeze a can of barbasol or two (or comparative foaming shaving cream) then peel the can open exposing a big hunk of frozen, unactivated foam. Toss in victims car, wait for it to warm up. Two cans will fill the cab of a small pickup:devilish:
This one is for pedophiles and other degenerates,**dont do this! Spray a little pepper spray or mace on victims car's door handle and/ or a spritz on the steering wheel. **dont do this:tantrum:

Well, I feel for all you folks experiencing the cold. For the week before we skipped town for the holidays, we had a high of minus 10°F for the week. It was down to about 30 (or so) below at night, not including windchill.

Actually the cold caused a cool implosion-type effect in one of the water bottles in our car, packed the night before the drive started. I've got no idea as to how this actually happened, except maybe that it froze damn fast...

The air bubbles in the water bottle are from the inherint disolved air in water, as the water freezes the air seperates out (it has to be REALLY cold for air to freeze, think LOX). Cooler water has more disolved air in it, so more bubbles. hot water has less, so you get ice that is more clear. I went to Michigan Tech and made the big Winter Carnival Statues for years, I did a lot of work with ice, we would freeze balloons, if we let them freeze all the way through, they looked just like an implosion marble, the bubbles get pushed toward the center as the balloon freezes from the outside and neck toward the middle/largest part leaving a thin trail, and end up having nowhere to go, and then get incapuslated. The trick for really clear ice is either distilled (expensive) or HOT AS HELL water, and do not disturb it during the freezing process. I have made windows for the statues that are 4' x 8' by 4" thick that you can barely tell are there. Back then we loved this cold weather, you could get more done!
-20 on the west side of MI yesterday AM...

"kind of blows"..

that's putting it mildly (sorry to any San Antonians out there). It does have "The Landing" down on the River walk, which is nice, but if I have to go to the F'ing alamo one more F'ing time I am gonna puke.

I definitely prefer Austin. I am going to visit my Grandfather. He is of the conservative persuasion to say the least. He and his wife like Austin, but refer to it as "bohemian" and "weird". No moving for them! Luckily they are outside of downtown in Leon Valley with the other rich folks.

Most of that side of my family comes from a town out in west texas called Big Spring. Talk about "kind of blows".

Fifties is hot right now! If you see some pasty white guy in shorts and sandals, be sure to say high as I will have made my way up to your neck of the woods!
