both right about 2" 's. Maybe a 1/16th of inch shy.

did this one last night. Really working on making color combinations for unexpected results using different techniques. This one has no orange in it whatsoever. Its a combo of purples/blues, but definetly not just a simple cane. Implosion done on 33 mm rod.

fairly simple one I made for my wife for Christmas. Think it was green exotic for the petals.Have no idea what I used for the leaves, done on 15mm rod.

heres a trick for photoing your marbles. A simple suction cup with a nib on the back.

Honestly I do them for the family or for friends. The purple urple/bubblegum went to a forum member. The purple mix one went into my china cabinet to save for later trade amongst my friends. I hope maybe glass kitchen will like it enough to trade for one of his incredible murrine marbles.
I know ebay sales are not doing so good right now on marbles. So instead of wasting time, money, and effort I prefer to make them in my off-work time knowing that they will go to someone who appreciates glass art(other glass workers). That purple one took about 3.5 hours including the time it took me to make that color up. I figure $120 would be about as low as i could sell it for and I just don't see it happening with the current market trends. Maybe one day my name will mean something to collectors and that will change but thats not the case right now.
So the sad truth I get to make marbles about 1 day total out of every month. But I enjoy them every minute I get to do them. It also gives me lots of drone time (when my hands are turning but the head goes somewhere else) to think about the next step. Kind of like the PM I sent you the other day. Which I think maybe a viable new direction that no one else is taking.

You know Big Jay, your saying to me, "Which I think maybe a viable new direction that no one else is taking." makes me feel so good!!!!!

The copper inclusions all started one day with me just standing there looking at the copper inclusions I had done in soft glass and thinking, why not Boro?

Here was a first attempt at soft glass copper inclusions. I was trying to make a beach themed marble for a glass art swap in which you had to do something summer beach themed.

I think the majority of marble collectors are guys and most would pick just about any other design before a floral including vortex, retti, space, misc implosions. On the other hand, floral pendants go quicker than anything else as girls are more likely to wear glass. Total generalizations of course.

To me it seems its all been done, alot. There are a few marble artists out there that are pushing the envolope and rightly so still selling mibs. I imagine if the economy was better and throwing a 100 bucks on a china cabinet object wouldn't be such a big deal things might be different. Who knows. Of course I am kind of talking out my ass since I don't even try to market mibs. But I do try to pay attention to people's reactions and the part of the internet market I can monitor.
Even as a glass artist if I had extra money I'd be buying. Until then all I can hope for is to make art good enough for people willing to trade.

Those are nice Jay,I really like the petal colors on the mibs. I've been busting out a bunch of these in pendant form, haven't taken any to the shops yet,but I hope they sell.
