So I finally found a place to move my shop. Good cheap rent and a nice place to do as I please and possibly own one day. I am going to be right on the Oregon border but still in California. A little town of 800 called Happy Camp. Being that far away from the city is going to be hard, and i need to fill a liquid tank to keep up with production. Anyone in that area know if there is any place in in my area that can fill up a liquid tank? I was told that Medford Oregon would be my best bet, but i can't find much on the internet.

I was thinking maybe crescent city, or Ashland possibly, or Arcata. Hopefully no further. I also need it delivered or a possibly a way to get it out of my truck. Right now i am using my dads tractor which won't be an option up there.

Any help is much appreciated.

Ok so i just found Airgas in Medford. It is a 2 and a half hour trip. Anyone know of a place closer then that? If not then i will have to do what needs to be done. I was hoping to possible absorb some good from information all the talented people that reside in the area as well. Probably attend some classes in Eugene hopefully.

Anyone know how much an oxygen generator setup would be to run my Carlisle CC?

You haven't been there yet, huh? :D

I lived in Siskiyou County (that's where Happy Camp is) for 8 or 9 years. Happy Camp is a pretty good distance from the Oregon border....unless you have a helicopter. The roads that do go straight up to Oregon are backroads (frequently closed in the winter) and dump you in less populated areas that wouldn't help. Forget about Crescent City and Arcata being options. Again, you are only close to the coast as the crow flies and the roads that go directly there are frequently closed in the winter.

The main road to get to Happy Camp is the 96, which comes from Yreka (population approx. 8,000...about an hour from Happy Camp). If you want to head to Ashland or Medford, you will go through Yreka and then take the 5 to Oregon.

Happy Camp has it's own little market and gas station, Post Office, etc...but not much more. You will be doing everything beyond basic needs shopping in Yreka or up in Oregon.

If you just want liquid and don't need to get your own dewar filled on the spot, I can hook you up with the number for the guy who distributes all of the oxy in Siskiyou County. He supplies the places that sell J and K bottles, etc... (In Yreka I think Littrell Auto Parts sells oxy and maybe one or two other places). Anyway, this guy's stuff all comes in on a semi from Klamath Falls...so the dewars get filled there before they get put on the semi. He is actually in Mt. Shasta, but I know he used to deliver up to Yreka and would possibly deliver to Happy Camp.

But if you want to fill your own dewar on the spot, Medford (or maybe Ashland) is the only place around there you are going to get that done.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, see the mountain in my avatar photo? That's Mt. Shasta.

Wow dude, that's ooooooooooooooooooout there in the sticks. I've always wanted to live out in the boonies like that,on the Mendo coast or somewhere with less people & traffic, small town, but the older I get it just gets harder to make a living & the suburbs have work & money & the country is close enough.Hoping to get to Bodega bay in a few years,it's only like 25 min. from my house now & civilization, but it's a lot quieter & chill & right on the coast. Anyways, good luck setting up your shop, there really isn't much around that area, but it sounds like Kool has a great potential oxygen hook-up for you & some good advice on the area.If you can afford a big enough oxy generator that might be your best option, but those are $$$$$$$$$$.
PS. Hopefully you've visited, don't ever move somewhere you haven't visited, bad idea. Especially coming from Santa Cruz bro, that's going to be a huge culture shock,it's cheap up there for a reason,it is beautiful, but it's far from the coast, rednecky,HOT in the summer,COLD in the winter & just really isolated most of all. If you can make it work out though,it should be sweet, lots of nature, peace & quiet.

Thanks everyone for the good advice. I will PM you kool about the Oxy, much much appreciated, I am looking at a 5-6 hours trip renting a Uhual and driving back and forth going from happy camp to Medford, to happy camp to Yreka and back happy camp. That is a shitty day to fill a tank. Plus i don't own i need to rent so that sounds perfect.

I know it will be way way way different out there, but i am looking forward to it. Always wanted to be away from the chaos and violence, negativity and traffic. All waste, chemicals and pollution. The rent is cheap enough to pay in 3 days work, about a weeks work to keep my shop running and electricity paid, and then not much more to eat and be comfy. I am hoping to spend the next 6 months saving money, living peacfully, and checking out a home that I could possible buy in the near future.

I can't believe the place just fell through. Sorry everyone this is now a pointless thread. Next time i look at a place i will guess i need to bring cash in my hands and think about it later, but its hard to convince 2 others to do the same. And i guess that seems like a stupid way to think, but this place had a lot of opportunities that no one else really offers. I should have jumped the second i had the chance. Lame.

The lady just gave the place to some old friend who she hadn't seen in years that owns her dogs puppies or somthin.

Sorry everyone, hopefully i will be up there in that area soon.
