sick of peanut shapes. i figure i can sell these at prodo prices if i keep them simple
with cobalt tubes and such, toss in a window or just a honey comb. taking the focus away from the coloring to work mainly on shaping. cause transitional forms and peanuts make me want to smash my hand in a drawer. also some gablets and demitasse. check your local coffee shops they will buy em or at least sell em on consignment.

its a hollow disk with a simple fumed window then kind of marver it down. then i aweld a little round mouthpiece to one end. then switch my blow tube to the other end. pop a hole opposite then weld another length of cobalt tube shape the bowl then stretch and sherlock bend it into that bridge. then i go back just heating the bend letting gravity, while using a little rotation and hot glass balancing, it pulls itself it into that shape while condensing the tube to a uniform shape it might be little tricky its hard to explain for me. i keep meaning to take some pics to illustrate what im saying but you know. thanks for the input and feedback gp.

i broke a heart because i cracked a pipe.

ive found that through my art i can speak a language that heals heart
and opens mind. the glass speaks back to me in an ancient language
that transcends the medium itself. glass taught me a little stress
untreated will soon grow into the biggest cracks and destroy,
espesially the thickest objects. i learned in manipulating glass to
only use as much of a flame as you absolutely need to get the job
done. to do this one must carefully dial the heat up and down and make
note for future reference. rushing the process and over compensating
is disaster everytime, too much heat causes stress and shock, the
glass cant handle it (even though its the strongest they make). to get
frustrated and give up on a project because it wasnt exactly what i
envisioned and break it is fool hearted. because when out of glass i
would dig through my scrap bucket, realizing how much i waste, pull
out the remnants, and realize where i went wrong, and that i could
have fixed it. sometimes i do if the damage isnt too severe. im
learning to cool my frustration. that its better to set it aside where
i can observe it until i figure out what its telling me it wants to
be. forcing my ideas of form and function without truly understanding
the process leaves me regretful everytime. when i follow these rules i
can be absurdly complex or elegantly simple. and both are results that
deserve equal appreciation.
glass shows me i must be delicate and careful even in the simplest of
techniques because the most complex beautiful forms are a combination
of mastering these simple techniques.

FIRE!

Looking good, I like the amber and black one especially. I'm not sure what that shape is called, but I like it, I've done a few similar ones myself. The encalmo lines on that one and the bubs further up the page look really good. What color is the honeycomb on that last one? Blue moon?

Just wondering,

If you're dropping 800 in a month, have you considered getting yourself an oxygen concentrator? I know Whale apparatus had one that put out 15psi that they were selling for like 850. You could get a couple & chain 'em to give ya 30psi, which should be more than enough to run whatever torch you're using. (what are you using by the way?)

After that all you need to do is replace the filters every so often... free oxy is the way to go... it's all around us!

Keep up the awesome work man!

The Cheese

Dang, $80??? Here I thought the local airgas were rapists for $37 a k.

Can you get liquid delivered?

Alaska would be nice - I don't like civilization. I hear you can get a house 2 hours from any other human being up there. Sounds like my kinda place except for those bullshit oxy prices.

Nice stuff man.

Bunyip
09-22-2009, 10:46 AM
you can't chain oxycon to up the pressure, it's more complicated than that - but for $2,000.00 you should be able to get a decent oxycon setup. Your work rocks, you deserve more oxy!

The Madhatter
10-30-2009, 10:36 PM
$2,000 - good to know! Thank's Bunyip!

Garth, you're an awesome guy, great to torch with! Shoot me your email address so I can send you the pics I took to get 'em up on here. Anytime you're in my neck of the woods you're welcome to stop by! Wish you luck on your travels bro!

BTW, rep point added - thank's for showing me that awesome flower implosion technique!
