I have some team updates that I thought you might be interested in. We had some rearranging of the teams and some new ones. Here's the dizzy...
New teams for the April 3-4th competition
Team Eugene Glass School
Dellene Perralta- Winner of the 2002 Flame Off
Mark McCourt
Matt DuBois
Josh McDaniels
Team Onion Mountain(Oh no they didn't!!!)
Eusheen
Natey
Chaz
Eli Aller
last but not least
Team Brushland
Hamm Brushland
It is rumoured that Hamm is making a time machine so he can travel back to pre-prohibition days. You will have to come and see.
Also, Team Weinmeyer will be adding two new members from Marcel's shop. It is not for sure, but it will be either Chris Carlson, Dale and/or Jason Lee.
Check it all out... www.internationalglassinvitational.com

We are trully honored to be on team "Centrifugal Force" with David Sandidge and Eric Goldschmidt. There is so much excitement to meet up with some people we haven't seen for years and other glass artists we've only admired from afar. Not sure if we're more excited to compete or to watch so many great glass artists work. CAN"T WAIT! See ya in Vegas baby! Thanks Will and all others that had a part in making this event happen. This should be made into a reality competition show that could be broadcast on TV and web. If I'm entertained by watching crab fishing I can only imagine how cool it would be to watch some of the best glass artists work....if we could only do it in the Bering Straight we might have a hit show, lol.

Vegas Baby...booked my room a couple days ago. Went ahead and got one at the South Point...figured it would be the easiest and good for safety meetings and such. Where is everyone else staying?
Wil, the woman at the hotel said we could call the company putting on the gig and get a discount. Is this true? Is there any sort of deal worked out for people involved?
Since it's Vegas we should have some glassblower gambling. Mini flame off and loser has to get waxed in place chosen by winner (Salon on site) Who's in????

I guess people are supposed to reserve your rooms through the link on the flameoff website. That way you get the discount and are entered in some kind of rockin raffle!

No one ever answers that damn number...left a message...I'll keep trying and see if they call back. All in all, reservations at the place aren't bad. We got a two bed room with a view of the city and two beds for under $600. We claimed two people and actually have four. $150/each isn't bad. If I get a hold of anyone and actually get a discount I will let everyone know.
And the link doesn;t work...says object not found...had to call the number. 800-207-4527

Aymie,
the number is 800-217-4527. Ask for Linda. she can give you the code.
must be a typo, I'll check.
Chances are, tell them you are with the Glass Craft and Bead Expo to get the discount. Let me know how that goes.
Respect,
boxfan

Are the nudie bars there going to be as good as the Body Shop?

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Do we really need a video camera filming anything but the competition?

Aymie,
WE'll talk to Tom and Kevin. Get a live feed from the Body Shop. Kevin will have to wear a dress and have the 4' poseable dilly. WE can live feed it into the arena on the 4 jumbotron's. Kevin can give Tom a lapdance(sorry folks, one of those "U had to b there" jokes.
Book rooms here https://www.ce1.com/cgi-bin/form-proc3.cgi?client_id=GLASS&event_id=GLASS%20CRAFT%20EXPO%202009
$70 during the week and $110 on the weekend. There are some cheaper hotels, but they are not close. THis place is almost brand new(3 years) and it is 3-4 miles from the strip. We did it one year, and by the time we cabbed it, shuttle, wasted timed it, never again.

Southpoint is pimp. Bowling Alley, 3 screen movie theatre, 6-8 resteraunts, Starbucks and Seattle's Best, Beer and Liquor store, etc. You never have to leave the building. Seriously!
Rooms have a huge flat screen, marble floors and phones in the shitter.
First year, I couldn't resist calling my friends from the shitter phone. To much fun!!!

We got a room at the South Point...kickin' the whole shindig off with Julie Riggs turning thirty. What a great way for her to start off as new year right?
I am so down for the live feed. I have really been missing Sassy.
When I get in I will do my best to compile a list of those staying on site and room #s for shitter calls. "good morning...this is your five thrity wake up call...bratatatatataatatatatat-plop"

Now Willy "everything" is not at the Southpoint, lol.....if these fellas are looking for the nudie bars they'll have to hit the streets! No nudie bar in Southpoint...well, unless you count what might be happening in some of the rooms! But..what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas right? teehee
Looking forward to seeing you bro, and meeting some of the boro peeps that post here. See you in a few...
