yeh make sure you use a pin point flame and get just where your gonna spin. then when its almost white hot pull the peice out of the flame and do your pinwheel. wait a sec and let it cool, then you can either twist it off or i like to knock it off, but dont melt it off

i do mine different than most. i use 5 mil (its what i had) and button the end to about 8mil then i heat the spot on the marble and twist, buring off in the flame. works well for pulling four dots together.

I use 5 or 6 mil almost always and just spot-heat and twist. When I'm about half way thru my twists I pull it slightly out until the connection is super thin, then I flame cut. While I'm cutting, the instant before the connection is lost I'm using the rod like drawing a circle with a pencil, around and around to get a good center on the spiral- does that make sense? It's all about the termination really...

I use 4mil and marver it into a point before I twist it. Definitely make sure everything is melted in and smooth before you twist. If the dots aren't totally melted in they'll usually get messed up. You don't have to twist it a lot to get a cool effect. I always wait a second or two, blow on it from all angles, and just snap the 4mm right off.
