Got this email today, thought it would be of interest to you all that cannot attend.

Josh

Greetings! Glasscraft and Bead Expo is excited to announce that everything is together for our LIVE streaming web broadcast of the International Glass Invitational. The video will be made available throughout the weekend. Details on how to access the web stream can be found later this week on our web site... http://www.internationalglassinvitational.com/

Streaming of the event will begin at 6:00pm PST, Friday, April 3rd. We will broadcast the night in it's entirety. Josh, Thank you for posting this. Rep points coming your way.

I am so excited to watch this event. The last time I was this excited to see a event was when I was a kid. It was WrestleMania 2. (I can not watch the wrestling now, but back then I loved it)

If you haven't gotten thisevent streamed to your CPU yet, ORDER IT NOW!!!

I've been in the GIANT arena all day running OXY and Propane lines, and setting up manifolds and all sorts of stuff!!!

There are 6 big stations set up, plus a small hot shop that are going to be RAGING this weekend!!! The whole setup is so bad ass I can't even describe it properly!! There are kilns that I can crawl into and an army of liquid tanks waiting to get tapped and used!!! All brand new all super clean and sweet!!

This is going to be the BIGGEST flame-off ever held and it's something you definitely don't want to miss!! If you're not here in person, you should definitly get the live streaming of the event because it's going to be EPIC!!!

A lot of people have already showed up and the big names for the event are gonna be ariving tomorrow!! So get ready for some sick sick sick glassblowing action!!! If you're here, I'll see you there and if you're not hopefully you'll see me on your CPU at some point in the night!! LOL!

So they updated the website to now allow you to buy the webcast...
https://ims.istreamplanet.com/transact/hotglass/
"Just $30.00 for all-access to both events,
both live and on-demand!"

I can't believe they aren't giving more information if they are expecting people will pay $30 for this. It would be really good to at least know what the video resolution will be.

If anyone is going to buy this please let me know. I want to find out if it is actually worth $30..... I would definitely buy it if it was less money.

as i said in other thread, first hour and a half i got frame by frame not real time, but could hear the sound real time, just video real slow.

then it kicked in and i could see things as they were happening, not sure if it was my end or theirs, but it was really cool, great work by the cameras and amazing glass art, really blew me away. cant wait to see pics of the finished work.

i have a wedding to go to tonight so i will likely miss the whole thing:(

i will likely buy the dvd if it comes out as well. for 30$ it was nice to see real time and feel the excitement and stress of getting done in time and still making solid connections, thats not the same when your watching it after the fact.

Paid to watch the webcast. Friday played just fine and was really cool so I was really pumped to see Saturday. On Saturday for some reason it just kept giving me a screen telling me my licenses had already been delivered when I tried to log in with my e-mail and password. I tried 7 e-mail attempts to both support@ that were offered to get customer service to help me out but go no help or response. I called my credit card company who gave me a number to call for customer support and no one was available to take my call there. So yea i'd kinda like to watch the "live" feed I paid for but I would settle for just an e-mail explaining how I can watch the prerecorded show at this point. Like I said I can watch Fridays event no problem but it's giving me some runaround about licenses and limits about Saturdays event. I know I haven't gone over any limit it never let me watch the thing. :wes:

that sucks, it worked for me when i just opened it in windows media player like i did the night befor.

but at first i tried signing in with a password it said a similar error. you might have just already been signed in and not known it. im sure youll be able to watch it recorded.

2nd night was pretty sick marcel and crew made a 10ft tall rocking chair out of stock tubing. among other festivities

it was worth it.

Gremlin it was on demand so no worries about that you did view the day one . Same thing happened to me then I went to the website and hit the link for starting day two you have to type in your e-mail and password. easy to forget in all the excitement. Then hit play It will start if you have not viewed it yet.

gremlinglass
04-06-2009, 08:43 AM
No thats just it. I have clicked on the link for 2 days probably like 50 times since it was to start on Saturday till now (Says click here to watch Saturdays event) then I try to sign in using my e-mail and password (which I made when purchasing this event) Friday works fine and plays when I click it BUT SATURDAY when I click it and then try to enter my password It says my license has already been delivered or what i'm trying to watch has "viewing limits" ( i'
ve never viewed Saturdays show)
No one has bothered to fix this problem after more than enough of my time and energy trying to e-mail IHGI support@ or the istreamplanet @support@ and calling my card company to get istreamplanet phone number for support (where no one is available to take my calls.)
If it is because I am already signed in how do I sign out so I can sign back in for Saturday. I still cant watch the prerecorded show that was about 25 of my 50 login attempts.

Okay so I called the istreamplanet number again and got through to someone this time. They reset my thing or whatever and now when I enter my e-mail and password it works. I'm gonna go watch it now. Not really what I had planned for the day but I really want to see this thing live or prerecorded.
The first one was great with Lewis Wilson opening the show with "Mini The Moocher" and some really amazing work being done by all teams involved. Team Lone Star even busted out the tee-shirt cannon. Alright, I been waiting since Saturday to see this finish. Peace

I mean building a special giant spinning rig to build your 10 foot rocking chair with and having your own crucible of color is really "bringing it" you know. Cant wait to see the next one.

I tried to hold my tongue (fingers?)...

Arik, a block buster movie or new pop album that's going to make many people very rich many times over is one thing - but it's still stealing.

WE are part of a fledgling industry. The producers of the First International Hot Glass invitational have put more into a single event than they ever have before. We're talking mortgage the house and go-for-broke on a single throw of the dice. Those dice are still rolling. Vegas baby....!

This event was not paid for by a casino or otherwise rich backers with nothing to do but waste money.

The last I heard was they are still trying to break even on costs.

For you to come here and suggest that someone should steal from people who are among us all friends, associates, peers, mentors, parents, teachers, students etc etc, for YOUR gain is disgusting to me.

How would you feel if someone came to your house and stole your torch, or better yet $100,000+ worth of your finished hard work and sold it to shops around you for dirt cheap, or gave it away for free?

It's one thing to be of a philosophy that says information SHOULD be free, it's another to steal from the hands and mouths of the people that without whom you wouldn't have that information in the first place.

I did not threaten anyone......

I personally dont care for politicians, lawyers, real-estate people, insurance creeps, or profiteering media......regardless of their personal relations to other people I dont know on the internet.

and furthermore....ANYONE who ever downloaded ANYTHING pirated should not speak here......for thinking that someone in your circle deserves to eat MORE than that of someone OUTSIDE your circle....actors, screenwriters, musicians, program writers.....ect

I dont upload. I am not the source of any "taking" of profits from any torrents....and considering that torrent people dont buy media, there is no loss from these not becoming sales....we are 2 entirely different consumers.

so.......is the existance of this site "threatening" the profits of the glasscrafting book writers, or instructional video makers....because they want to profit on the information your giving away for free here.....and they are part of this community your speaking of.......

And what about the Teachers.....you are stealing the profits from them too...and they have come here to complain about the damage in their lives from lack of enrollment, due to free online help.

like Gnarls Barkley....I could go on, and on, and ooooooo-oo-on, but who cares?

Why don't you go and make one extra piece during your work day, and that should do more then cover the $30 cost for the webstreaming...

Help support the community that you belong to, so we can have this event again next year! It was a really awesome show and the caliber of the work was beyond top notch. Everyone that was involved pushed the bar some way or another, and it's definitely worth seeing....

If the $30 is to much for you, I guess you're SOL... You'll be the one missing out on all of the awesome work and the great time that was had....

People spent lots of time, energy and money for this event that won't be recovered. But they did it for the love!

And yes there will be a DVD, and Wil and Jen are talking about a special issue of the FLow dedicated to this event.

I was at the event and I'm planning on buying at least one copy of the DVD when it is released, if not a few to give out to my friends as gifts... Every DVD purchased goes to support the community that organized this event, and will help justify the 2nd Annual IHGI for next year!!

Arik, Wil has always been very generous with donations and discounts to schools and libraries - I don't think it's out of line at all to hope to see a copy of this in accredited libraries and reputable/established Glass Schools.

I would say that making a copy from a loaner would be in equally poor taste, and still stealing from people who make what you do possible, but ultimately YOU have to decide what your reputation and character are worth to you.

My buds from High School came down to Vegas to watch, who know nothing of glass were already to throw down the cash for a vid. They didn't even think of asking me to burn a copy for them. Plus they even bought their own tickets when I could have probably gotten them some free ones.

Don't forget where the money is going, which is to hopefully make this happen again. Ya think it was cheap to rent out a 30,000 square foot arena in Vegas?and don't for a second think that Will and others now went back to TX and went on a shopping spree from all the cash they made.

To Will, Jennifer and all their crew, THANK YOU! I'll make all my family and friends buy one when they come out.

Arik,

I'm pretty sure this will fall on deaf ears but all I keep talking about to my friends and family is how much of a community was there. All supportive, all full of love, all talented beyond words.

You seeing them just as competition is truly a huge loss to you and you have no idea how big "huge" is.

Stealing is stealing no matter how YOU try and define it and you're excuse that "other's have done it" is so weak.

Way to many are emotionally attached to this event for this to be a productive thread. I would ask that the mod's close this thread so we can get a freshy to find out how we can improve things for a hopeful next year.
It is still important for me to hear who had problems with the webcast so we can get right with them, but I would prefer a seperate thread.

Arik, I would RESPECTFULLY ask that since you obviously do not support these efforts that you do not detract or subtract from the next thread. I also apologize for the reaction. I should have been more professional.

Also, I had informed a few people that the event broke even. The girls, Patty and Lee Anne, had told me this during the event to keep me up. They knew what it would do to moral if I knew we were not hitting our numbers.

Point is we have not broke even and now rely on Istream and vid sales to cover the loss, and it is no small number. SO, if we want to do this again, I humbly ask you to break in that cookie jar when we start doing vid presales.

Let me say I give to the community what they give to me......

and no-one here ever reaches out to be nice to the AK....

doubt it will ever change...

guess this means your not coming over for lunch?

will, all, what a great show, i was inspired and amazed. This show was amazing and has even more potential for future years. The teams all were out of sight.

Will any of the final pieces be offered for sale? if any teams wanted to sell their works (maybe too attached to be possible), im sure there are some big pockets to be found (if looked for). A 10% fee to the ihgi might help profits/losses. Vegas is also a good place to find free spending folks, possibly display some pieces in the hotel(s)/casino(s)? the work produced was above top notch.

AK, i see where your freedom of info/video ideas are based, but disney/pixar/mtv were not putting this on with the goal of making media money. If you speak out of anything other than provocation, you are ignorant and have not made use of this forum. there are people reaching out and giving out info and techs for free almost daily!! Your competitors, giving out free info!! those people are reaching out and giving to you, and me, and the community. So take advantage of what they have given out, and be thankful/grateful, dont try to make them mad in the name of "art".

To Wil, Jen, Barry, LV Management, Jason, Jenny, my Dad, everyone at the Flow, all the volunteers (Rashan, Ben, Cisco, Jean, Nyles....forgetting everyone else I saw zipping around), the camera crew, contestants, etc:

Outstanding job! Getting the webfeed to happen was a monumental accomplishment that I know many of the Flame Offs in the past have looked into, but have not been able to pull off.

Sometimes you have to take a hit (financially speaking) to do something the way it needs to be done. The important thing is to keep your reputation stellar - and that's what you all did. Going forward people are going to remember what happened, and those that may have gawked at the price to attend or view the event should better understand the cost involved to do so.

I do think most in our glass community get back as much, if not more, as they put into it. If you aren't getting anything out of it - you know where to start to correct it.

the act of getting others to feel or express emotion = ART

its what I do.....
and I am DAM GOOD at it....

(in a beevus-butthead voice)"huh-huh....she said 'butt hurt' huh-huh-hu-hu-huh"

anyway....this was fun yall...just as much entertainment as watching the show.

I can't believe I just read that. You have just bought yourself a vacation from The Melting Pot. We do not allow this kind of behavior here, Arik. I doubt you'll be getting a 5th chance with us.

Absolutely. I'm sorry that there are some negative things going on in this thread but in the big picture of things it's positive. People got your back, and we want you to cover your costs.

Respect

We will help out and buy a copy for the library here, but we will not put it up to be checked out for a year, if that's long enough for ya. ;)

Alright thread closed, make a freshy. You won't have AK to mess it up anymore. Sorry about that, Wil.
