So last night around 8pm, Jen, the kids and I started watching the first night of the flame off webstream. About 30 minutes in, M-I-L calls to tell us there is a tornado warning. 5 minutes later, we had taken all the glass out of her office and brought in 3 mattresses. 3 minutes after that, it felt like a freight train went through our backyard. Holy shit!!! Kids had their bibles, tripping, but brave little troopers.
After we realized we lived through it, we got the kids to M-I-L's up the road and went back to check out the house. Our neigbor, 100 yards from us had a trre top through their front porch. Our damage was minimal. 2 miles down the road, on of our neighbors lost the top story of their house and the preacher lost his living room.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Jen and I are wondering if we will ever get to see the flame-off.
We are haeding over this morning to take pics. Will post later.
God Bless Texas!

Thank goodness your family is safe. I will be thinking positive thoughts for those who have lost in your area. My area of southern IL is know for tornado's we had some of the worst in our surrounding states. You guys and the oakies get it far worse. And they are so unpredictable, as big as our would seems events like these remind us how fragile we are.

Hope your surrounding folks made it to safety and all damage is the kind that hammers and nails can fix.

I guess that is one of the reasons houses are so cheap in Texas.

Glad you and your family are safe Will. I remember breaking my tornado cherry. Something I will never forget. The cleanup is a real pain. There are plenty of us here in Texas that are close enough to you, you need any cleanup help just say the word.

We still don't have power and M-I-L is on dial up, so no pictures yet.
Here are a couple of links to the madness..

When you read the 2nd report, we live 7.7 miles north of Hughe Springs. Holy Crap!!!

The weather here is so crazy. Two weeks ago we had hail that smashed every car window in every parking lots for a ten mile stretch. Yesterday morning it was cold and rainy, then in the afternoon I could have tanned. Oh, the poles they are a changin'
