Marco,Cyclone, and ALC are some of the higher end brands that I have found. Econoline even sells a conversion pot to switch a siphon unit to pressure pot. Anyone know which pressure pot is the best trouble free unit? I have searched other forums and websites but no one really compares brands or declares one brand the mac daddy of them. I want to find a great unit at the best price. I am converting my siphon cabinet to a pressure system.

I don't want anything close to harbor freight quality.

The recommendation I got from Butch Young was Glastar on the pressure pot and foot switch. She knows her shit....

I've been to glastar. Thats where I got my dust collector. I am in So Cal right now too. Damn I wish they were open Saturday.

I looked at there pressure pot online just now. Do you think it's worth $800. I know I felt that my skat dust collector was a little over priced for what it was.

OK I knew I could find the manufacturer of the same pot that Glastar put thier name on for less. Although the glastar appears to have a foot pedal and a moisture trap or something else on the side of the tank. I have a foot pedal that will probably work just need to figure out the moisture trap.

yes, Butch is a woman... Butch is not her name, it's a description.

Anyways, I dunno what it's worth you to. I got a Skat dust collector, a Glastar pot, and a large custom cabinet for less than the cost of that ebay pot.... deals are abound these days.

I had to replace the foot switch... was about $120 for the kit in Vegas.

Pressure pots are pretty simple pieces of equipment. I can't see one being much better than another except for the amount of media it holds. I have a TIP with an aftermarket foot pedal I installed. The whole thing cost me about $150 here in town. Now the systems that have the pot integrated under the blast cabinet, now those are sweet. Mine is separate and I hate dumping the AlO2, it gets messy.

Doug were did you hook up that package? Local glassblower, Craigslist or what?

Local shop down sizing their glass carving studio. They used to host classes with big hitters, but from what I understand since Butch left and Norm Dobbins passed away the local blasting scene's dropping off.

I use Glastar's unit and really like it. It has given me five trouble-free years of service so far. Is it worth the $800? Hell, yes.

The unit on ebay without the foot pedal for $500 may look the same, but that foot pedal is not that simple a device. The question should be: is your time to fabricate this part of the blaster, trial and error, worth the $300?

I converted my old siphon unit to the Glastar pot with minimal effort and hassle. Plugged one hole and cut another one. The pot blaster stands alone so I can also go out back and blast something that is too big to fit inside the cabinet.

Dave, you might want to consider switching from AO2 to Silicon Carbide. It cuts faster, lasts longer, and makes a cool spark where the abrasive strikes the object that really helps you see what you are doing.

I hear you Robert but I have a foot pedal assembly on my siphon unit ready to switch over as well as a regulator so it may be worth the savings in my case.

Now if there are other important features that the ebay unit doesn't have that the glastar unit does I may really consider just getting the glastar unit. Right now though the ebay one looks like it fits my application with minimal labor to convert.

Thanks for the feedback.

Update. After further research and some phone calls. It looks like Glastars unit will fit my needs more than the ebay unit. My foot pedal will not work with the pressure unit and the ebay one does not have a regulator. I dont feel like ordering the ebay unit and then trying to rig it to my equipment. If I could see the unit in person it may be worth it but it's a crap shoot purchasing online.

Glastar is a glass industry owned business anyways. They deserve the business.

Has anyone heard about the Rayzist pressure pot? Is it as nice a pot as the glastar pot? Thanks

Not sure about that but I did figure out how to make a foot pedal for half the price of the glastar one.

Did you use a pinch valve? I gave up on the foot pedal on the pressure pot because they couldn't keep up with the coarse grit. I would wear them out in a couple months of use. So did you find a pedal that the grit won't eat away the valve? I'd love to go back to using a pedal but the pinch valves most of the big guys use aren't cheap and ball valves wear out quickly.
