Anyone have any advise on how to approach making a humming bird feeder. I saw some with tiny holes and some with large holes you can just take a rubber gromet and jam this plastic flower thing made special for the birds beek and to prevent water from leaking out. The one with tiny holes was all glass with holes at the bottom of the hot air ballon shaped piece inside the ufo shaped piece (which had the tiny holes too for the birds beek)...Sorry for the rambling, I'm just waking/baking up.......Slick

Hey slick. I make mine with a large hole and use the stopper. If there are multiple holes in that other one, I'm not sure if it would work. If you put more than one hole in them it releases the pressure and all the liquid will drain out. I made that rookie mistake right away. I got my stoppers from glasscraft i think.

You can also get corks and rubber stoppers from these folks. Good quality. http://www.widgetco.com/corks

I bought some from trev's glass on ebay a few months back. Heres a link (http://www.gardenartisans.us/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=301) where you could pick some up, i forgot what I paid for mine. If your stopper is squeaking out make sure that your hole is a perfect seal

Also, you must create a vacuum when you insert the stopper. Fill it to the top, then press the stopper in so that the fluid squirts out the hose. This should solve any leak problems as long as your hole is round and creating a good seal.

We have found that it takes a small hole in the top to stop that leak from the bottom with our cork stoppers..
These are the stoppers that work good with the 25mm 4 tubing and they don't leak and 3 bird can feed at the same time

I make my own. I get the solid black corks, make the tube from point handles, use some stringer to make a flower on the end, drill, carefully insert, done.

Just make sure you do the insertion wet and in the first try (don't stop) and hold the glass with a rag just in case it breaks.

Here's one of them (http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=ViewListing&product_id=161987)
