View Full Version : Do you have this problem with Aura goggles?

I've been using them for about a year now & all in all I think they're great, should have got them years ago ..... but, with the frames being transparent I am getting a reasonably bright sodium flare glow through the frame between my eyes. It's impossible to focus properly on it, but I believe it's coming through the lens frame either side immediately below the bridge, rather than the bridge itself.

It didn't bother me at first, but is increasingly now. Of course my concern is not only the distraction/irritation, but if it is in fact reflecting harmful rays.

I wore several different frame types in glasses during the years proceeding & this is not the same as the "ambient" glow you might perceive at the edges, it's a lot brighter, definitely a defined glow/reflection coming from the frame.

Is it just me, as in the angle etc they sit on my face in particular? Or have others noticed it to?

Has anyone tried "blacking" the frame? What did or didn't stick properly without rubbing/scratching/flaking off easily? I thought I might try a good quality permanent marker but decided to put feelers out first.

Cheers,
Leigh.

I don't know anyone that had this problem with Auras, but lots of folks had thaat issue with Boroscopes.
A paint marker works alright, maybe some other kind of paint would be good?
Permanent marker ink is too transparent.
Some one I know in town tried a lot of things from marker to weird black tape. The weird black tape seemed work better, but it's a little ganky.

I had that problem .. I used real duct tape the metal kind and made side blinders and coverd the inside of the frame also. It took care of the problem.

I used black acrylic paint. I painted over all the clear polycarbonate. and it works fine.

Don't use enamel paint - it contains acetone which will attack the polycarbonate and void the warranty. Marker is fine, acrylic is fine. None of these will void the warranty. We've discussed this with the manufacturer of the frame, and they would be will to make an opaque frame if I can guarantee 50,000 units to be taken all at one time...heh.

i too had this problem with my auras about four years ago, when i called aura lens and asked about if there were any harmful "rays" etc getting through the person i talked to acted like i was crazy or something. since then i kind of learned to ignore it. so is it harmful or no? none of the posts so far have said.

i did make some side blinders from electrical tape they work fine and the tape has never come off.

this is my first post, i'm lovin' on the chat, thanks. jim

No, the polycarbonate material does act as a filter, it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
