So my contract with Airgas was up and I returned my tanks to them and went to the Mom and Pop place. I was assured I would get "credit" approved by them doing reference checks.

The guy at the branch even gave me the tanks before it went to corporate to get approved.

Corporate called me today and said they need $250 a tank deposit. That is nuts, airgas never even asked me shit and I had welding tanks when I was 12 no problem.

apparently the references I used where not good enough, since I dont have accounts but rather pay cash or credit.

So what the hell could I do now, Airgas wont deliver and is too much. And I cannot afford to let them hold $750 at this time......
And they ran my personal credit, which is good but just a lot is owed to medical. Right now I am out of biz due to this dumb shit. This kinda crap is why the country is falling apart, throw a dude a bone, fuckin oxy-assholes.

any help.

WTF...250 $ deposit per tank. Are you buying these tanks or just leasing them? I think i paid 40 bucks for a deposit which i will get back. maybe your talking about liquid.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, where in NC are you and what company are you trying to work with? I'm near Charlotte and could definitely make some recommendations if you're out this way, plus it would be cool to catch up with another local glass artist. Let me know.

Can you buy your own tanks and have them fill them?

What's the deposit on a liquid tank?

If you want to make a trip to Savannah, GA let me know and I will get the price for oxy tanks from one our local shops that keeps them on the floor to sell retail.
I deal with Airgas and while they would not SELL me tanks (OX 300 ) I ran an add on our local Craig's List in the WTB secetion. Man called that had some in his yard, $80.00 later I was the owner of my own 2 tanks which Airgas now fills for me.

I'm in NC too. Who's giving you a hard time? If it's someone I've worked with I may be able to put in a good word. I've never been asked for a deposit.

Go to National Welders/Airgas and see what they have to say. My buddy gets OX300s for under $10 so when I set up my account and the fella asked what I was quoted for a refill I told him I didn't have it written down but it was just short of ten dollars. No pause or anything from him, he typed some and then I had a receipt for a 300 under $10

If you find a tank and get an account with National Welders I bet we could get you tanks filled for that price.

@Blue Ridge Rider....airgas was hittin me with 26 a fill, and they wont deliver....I need delivery due to neck/shoulder problems.

Also does anyone know what a 282 tank should cost around. Or even a 300 for comparison....

Who do you guys use for references, I just need 3, but dont have revolving accounts. Thanks
