Elaine and I are so saddened to hear this. Laura was such an awesome person, and I hope Bill and family are doing well…. they will be in our prayers for sure. I’d like to share a poem by Laura that she gave us a few years ago.
The Ancient Ones
We are the ancient ones, the ones who came before
We moistened the earth to make clay and give it shape
We dug the mountain and found the metals to
Make your coins and swords.
We are the ancient ones, the ones who came before
We gave you wings that you could reach the heavens
We burned the sands until it was molten and poured
the vessel from which you drink.
We are the ancient ones, the ones who came before
We ask you to be humbled by your successes as were we
We ask that you not forget who gave you the knowledge,
the curiosity and courage to go beyond.
We ask you to remember that when we are long forgotten
You will be the ancient ones, the ones who came before.

What a great loss to our community. Laura was a wonderful woman with a kind spirit and an inspiring love for her husband and our glass community. My heart goes out to Bill and their family.

Anyone who does not know the Rasmussen name should look into the profound and major impact they have had in glass as a medium in the United States.

the other day i was rereading one of the articles about bill and laura getting their start. I was thinking about how they were among the first ones to start giving a real push to our medium.
It's a sad day when the ones who have contributed so much move on.

There is a cool article in a recent issue of The Flow (I hope I am right about that, and that it wasn't Glassline) and she talks abut how they met and how she got sucked in to the glass...it's a good read...nice uplift for a sad time.
