What do you guys do with your scrap glass? Do recycling places accept that type of glass?

not sure about recycling, but I like to hang on to mine and make abstract things or addons for pipes out of them, even if it's shattered into dust it can still be used.....

My trash company won't pick it up as recyclable if they can't tell what it is. So, I crush it up as I go and store it in a bucket and when I have a few pounds I wrap it in several layers of newspaper so no one gets cut and toss it in the trash to go out with the other stuff.

Boro is not recyclable at your local reclamation center.

I bury my scrap in sand boxes at local preschools. It's more fun than dumping used hypos on the beach!

Yep they had a special trash can with all the scrap that made that piece. I was cleaning the shop one day and doc says don't put stuff in there its the stuff from the hammer and chad is going to use it for other stuff.

It was already too late I had filled it the rest of the way up with less artistic scrap.

I was dreading chad finding out I had mixed up his scrap. I thought when docs shop was crushed by the tree it would cover up my boo boo. But no I look over and see the can had made it threw the storm and tons of other stuff did not.

they went thru and did that about 6 months ago. took some of my soundtracks as well. i'd say they just about ruined that site because of it. you're lucky to find any cool music vids anymore. half of my favorites list got wiped out. :wes:

This last week-end I discovered a use for a few of those leftover points....you guys probably already do this, but I'm slow on the uptake. I melt down a little of the end and use them in place of solid rods for all those shorts on my bench.

You can also encase with them just hold in the flam and as it gathers you just drag it on.

No bubble trap its a nice tech when you are out of rod and have a bunch of point ends.

I made the feeding tubes for hummingbird feeders from point ends. It gives me a way to say I used recycled glass since I was using something that otherwise would have gotten crushed up.

Oh, and a small amount of them *do* get crushed up into clear frit. I was going to order some one day and stopped and said wait a minute, I've got a bucket of the stuff out there, a hammer, safety glasses and a respirator.

I laughed so hard at the scrap in the preschool sandbox. Thats where my scrap is going from now on.
