[Borobot]

I have been on the torch since the end of 2008. Mostly learning everything from this website, and people via internet. I decided to create this post to show appreciation to all of you who have helped get me where I am. As time goes by I will continue to post my developing glass art. Still have a long way to go. Fume with clear if ya got it....or just practice shaping and condensing with clear, that'll keep it cheap on the color and hone your skills in. I know it's a lil late, but I got contemporary lampworing vol 1&2 coming to me tomorrow! I hear it's a good decision to make, maybe one of the best. All in all, focus on getting nice thick glass, even walls, and nice round, evenly stamped bowl heads....that's what makes or breaks a piece..that and them being anealled..hehe

coloring with stringers also minimizes color glass usage and helps with shaping also! keep it up!

Very nice. I'm just about to get into some couple section, solid color pieces like you soon. Yours are looking very smooth now, and good welds. I've been stuck on mastering ISO. It pisses me off soo bad sometimes, but I still keep doin it....kinda like girls...haha....good shit for sure!

Lookin good man. Are you striping your blank with straight rod? I found it a lil easier to apply with stringers, melts in a lil quicker and more even.

Yea'll should save some of that color for when you're as broke as me. Looks like steel wool. borobot you can do iso on 32...depends on the torch i guess

With iso in 32mil, I would highly suggest slightly puffing out the first third of the blank a lil. It'll help with flaring, and give you a wider cup and more room to lay in your lines. Honestly though, if you wanna make it easier on yourself, pick up some 44 thick wall. That's what I've been using for my iso, and it comes in handy for sleeving and blow ins.

Thanks guys, and yeah I've just been drawing color rod down the blank and encasing it. The color is GA Disco Sparkle. How thin of stringers are you talking about Fiorino? I'm worried that I might not have the control I can get with using rod to make straight lines down the blanks. Everything so far has been made on a Nortel Redmax pre-mix, but I'm waiting on my new GTT Phantom! I want to get some bigger tube for sure. I've watched my buddy do some blow-ins, and they look like tons of fun.

I use 50 standard for my iso it so much easier no flaring and when condensed it really gives a great 3d effect....

cool dude the pipes are lookin good! i gotta start trying to make more spoons.. i always run into trouble with my color lines though.. i never melt them in all the way..i gotta learn how to keep the shape better when melting... keep up the work!

I pulled these tubes today and would like some suggestions on what to make with them. Something functional and something dry (dont wanna risk wasting glass by messing up a bub).
Tube 1- Borostix blush & spring purple
Tube 2- Borostix skyblue?
Tube 3- NS amber purple, jet black, cherry, & GA rasta gold

Any suggestions or ideas would be great... Kinda thought it would be cool to interact with people and maybe produce something they would like to see. They could be r-balls from all 3 tubes or could be made from one tube only... As I said before, I only wanna make some dry functional glass with these... Made this sidecar today, pretty proud of it, but the bowl push went a little sideways (I actually kind of like the pushes angle)... Anyways its 5 pieces, and made out of NS cherry, amber purple, jet black, and GA rasta gold... Took me like 1 hour and 30 minutes, is that too long? I'm hoping I can sell this to a shop for $40, what do you guys think?

Dude, dope as fuck!! I actually stacked my first 4 r balls and made it into a gandalf sherlock. Came out good as far as shape and thickness, but I kinda twisted up my wig wags, and my terminations were fucked. Maybe a couple good ones. With the tube pull, prolly took me 3 hours. I pulled my tube a lil to thin in diameter, but it was still thick enough to blow out into little balls, then join them to condense and so on.

But you my man...Yer shit looks raw as fuck!! I really dig the amber purple in it as the background color! I really wanna come out soon but I really don't have a reliable ride to get down to you...I'll try to figure somethin out...but awesome work man!!:party::party:

It's gonna be kinda hard to explain but here it goes...
1.) pretty much you have your pipe all shaped (looking like a normal spoon)...
2.) heat up the neck right before where the bowl is gonna be and let it sag...
3.) quickly puff before it folds to even out the walls, and get the bend that you want the piece to have...
4.) heat the top part up and even it out to a nice sphere...
5.) pop your hole and push that bowl!!!
after that you can add your carb, maybe a mib or some grippers, and flatten out the bottom so it stands up... these steps can be done in whatever order you like to do them in...

Anyways I've mostly just been making prodo, but I made some non pipe items I'd like to share... I also pulled out 4 tubes... Any suggestions on what to do with them??? Also for those of you who might be wanting to know about some successful color combos, I wrote the "colorways" beside each tube...

I was thinking about making an inline jar pipe with one tube, and was wanting to make it dry because I'm not very good at doing bubs... Do people usually make them dry or wet or both?

It's been a couple months since my last post... I picked up a distributor so I've just been busting out prodo for the most part. I also made a robot sculpture and entered it into a local art show downtown. It sold before the opening somehow to an 85 yr old woman I guess... lol...
