This year Thomas Grimmett of Glass Alchemy, Ltd. and Mike Shelbo, the Glass Alchemy 2009 sponsored artist, will be attending AGI and will teach a series of classes that will explore the world of Glass Alchemy Boromax® frit and the new Tailor Made™ Tube.

Exploring Frit
In the Exploring Frit class, Mike Shelbo will make one of his famous goblins out of Glass Alchemy Boromax® frit. Mike will explore the five different frit grades Glass Alchemy offers and discuss their application. Thomas will be on hand to discuss the chemical properties of the color. If you have ever wondered why the Fine, 82 grade frit doesn't strike like the Medium, 38 grade frit, then this is a class for you.

Exploring Tailor Made™ Tube
In the Exploring Tailor Made™ Tube class, Thomas and Mike will walk students through different working techniques. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and explore the working characteristics of the Tailor Made™ Tube.

One week to go!!!!

I have my golden ticket, my plane ticket, and shipment of glass on the way. This will be my first AGI and I'm really excited. Since joining Glass Alchemy full time a couple years ago I have been anticipating my first AGI and the time has finally come. I can't wait to hang out with a bunch of people that love glass as much as I do.

Shelbo and I encourage you all to chat with us throughout the event about working color. Mike knows the working properties of every GA rod and frit and is a true resource for their applications. I am now batching all the colors and running the R & D... between the two of us, you will have access to a ton of color knowledge.

Our demos are designed to engage lampers of all skill levels so come hang out and learn some new skills.

See you all in Pennsylvania!!

I met a guy in Australia who was really into ice cream... I thought they would eat it off the back side of the spoon down there, but I guess they're just trying to copy the Americans now....

but come to think of it, he didn't have an Australian accent, maybe he was just visiting also...
