Anyone ever make one? I've hear things about clear glass balls that you can put a live minnow in and surround it with hooks (never seen one). But I think that a small tube through which you could run line and attach a hook on the back end might work.

Anyone??

epic! I have been thinking about this for a while. I do alot of spear fishing (Hawaiian sling in particular) and I have been thinking about making translucent glass shrimp to litter areas with (all attached to some sort of easy removal device)

I've thought about making some. My thought is to make a bead for the body and make it a panther martin style lure. http://www.panthermartin.com/lures/Spinners/Regular.aspx I swear by these lures they are the best for trout.

I've caught fish on some glass lures where the glass is wrapped around the hook. It had some kind of glow paint on it but they were mass manufactured

this is the shit!!! nice catch, damn
panther martins are the best stream lures i have ever fished, cause they move at slower speeds than anything else because of the concave/convex design

im spluttering here, sativa you could probably make a palm frond-like thing that would twitch them all and create little sand puffs, would it be to lure something out of its hole when you already know where it is?

i haven't caught a fish in months, kill em for me

menty i bet of you made them a little bigger and diamond shaped with glow powder in them steelhead fisherman in canada would buy them.
im not really sure how to reach that particular niche though

but i have seen guys using glow spoons that they charge up with a camera flash and cast every time

Dont need to go to canada. There are plenty of steelhead fishing vendors in Duluth MN and up the north shore

I's been ages since I've made fishing lures! Yes, I have fished with them, saltwater. I even still have the one that won me a few hundred dollars in a jackpot.

I love the idea of using Glow Glass. I may have to play with that today!

Here's a picture from 2003 (no they are not wrapped for the type of fishing I do)

Sweet lures, people!!

At AGI, Tom gave a very useful lecture and demo about these other markets.

During the demo, he showed a great big minnow tube he made.Like 44 standard wall or larger, not sure. He said it was for display, like a gift to an angler.

Here it is cropped out of a larger picture, I didn't have one showing it, or the whole thing,by itself.

Anyone remember North Star newsletter featuring lures made by Ron jr. of AGH? This was years ago but they certainly where tight.

Nice lures Braden and loco. Great work!

Ron jr's lures were the best I've seen, I had forgotten.

Damn short term memory.

I have been making a variety of glass fishing lures since 2002. I shared some of my experiences with AGI guests a few years ago, and surprisingly nobody took the idea and really “ran with it”, which is what I was hoping for.

Anyway, I’ve been making them ever since, and I am writing a series of articles for The Flow Magazine that will cover the history of glass fishing lures, and tips and tricks on creating contemporary lures... as well as my successes and failures with creating and selling products in a new / different market… something that can be applied to other new markets.

*Also included in the article will be a list of suppliers that carry all of the parts needed for the lures themselves, as well as packaging and presentation info.

Hey, I’ll see a bunch of you in a few weeks!!!!!!!!!

Tom

Went fishing with my girlfriends family and friends... They're fishing pro's out here...they scouted the spot .. we went out to deadman lake ... a couple hours east of Vancouver on a logging road. Crazy long weekend! lots of 4X4's and fishing boats...We caught lots of trout all day the first day... Then we got smashed and melted bottles in the fire. The next day when showing off my glass lures someone asked .. did he make those in the fire last night?..... I wanted to say yes.:twitch:

how does that minnow tube work? is it just a joke?
enlighten me, seems like the strain of hooking a fish would break it.
i went fishing at 530 this morning and fished with live pollack, herring chunks and trolled tube lures and a diving plug on wire line.
the only problem is that dogfish (small useless sharks) have eaten everything.
i caught one on my bait catching sabiki rig, because it was shiny. aaaahhhh

Like a tube fly?

I bet a fish in a glass bulb covered with hooks could catch squid.

Quoted for the truth! Panther Martin is all I use for most species unless I'm fly fishing or poppin on the surface.

wow, can't believe I just found this post. Those are some great looking lures above! My Brother came up with the same idea last year, and we are really going for it now, Check out our site: http://www.shallowglasslures.com
We have been catching a lot of fish with them, maybe cause we fish a lot!
