The Monkey Man bench is done.

This piece has been long in the making. Glad to finaly see it come into a completed state. Of course the Murrini eye will be back lit so light will come through the clear components.

I would stand by my original assesment of Milissa's work. She's doing stuff with relentless creativity, sharp execution of technique and an overall style that is just killer. I see the entire process of her working on chunks of murrini from the torch to the kiln. The ones that make it through the fusing process and become the pieces are worth more than their monetary value. Even the ones that are broken are stunning achievements of style.

My video skills are getting better. I will be working on her DVD and doing the soundtrack for it.

One of the most important pieces in glass history. The imagery is fantastic, the technical knowledge is beyond mortal.

Milissa is glass art.

Thank you Chris,
I don't know what to say but I'm very flattered. I just do what I do, partcially due to insanity...:) and endless curiosity. Your in the same boat in many ways.
I'm glad you like the Monkey Man. He came from a picture I took of a natural totem that I have posted in my photo files on facebook - if you haven't seen it take a look. View the vertical ones.

I should just clarify that the preceding post was made by Milissa. Not me. I refuse to use emoticons. Can't believe she did that under my account.

Oh man! I think its time to hit up the steel warehouse and warm up the welder. If you can bust something like that out hit up city hall and the various parks departments. Hell thow it on a trailer and bring that one along for show. Really, I would imagine that to be a pretty good gig right there. That bench is fantastic!

that is awesome as well.

i think some people need to view milissa's process to understand the complexity of her work. this is not surface work....it is amazingly composed of multiple murrini canes......a result of creative vision that is on a genius level & extraordinary skill. my concern is that viewers do not understand it enough to truly appreciate what they are looking at.

Gypsea, you are right on the money with that assesment. That is our number one concern, and addressing it has been an issue. Milissa doesn't enjoy public speaking or explaining her work. Efforts to work on this on my end have been slow going because my plate is full of other things.

The DVD she has is going to get a major overhaul. I wanted to use my cousin who is a filmmaker, but he's always involved in one project or another. My new neighbor just happens to have a full video editing studio and I have the software and hardware to do all the sound plus soundtrack. So an explanation of soft glass flameworking plus kiln forming is in the works.

I am going to send out some tracks to Eddie soon. I'm also considering Yehaw for a little bit of stunt work. I think that we might be able to make something well beyond the normal for a glass DVD with all of the ideas I have in mind. She's going to have to buck up and do her best to explain the process, even though it's really just the work that we are interested in promoting. But I think a good bi-product would be the actual practical application that other flameworkers would then be able to apply to their studio at little to no cost and be able to use already existing equipment to make awesome softglass murrini.

I need to get on the horn with my web hoster and start ordering some new features. We're about to take this hard to the yard. You should see my to do list. It's crazy. And all of it on no budget whatsoever.
