I wake up this morning to find that my shop has been broken into and EVERYTHING was stolen!!! :mad1: My Kiln My torch. My tools. My glass. My glasses(2 Pairs)... I'm at a loss. I dont know wtf im gonna do. this was my livelyhood. this was how i supported myself and my daughter! I hate theives. AAAAAAH Any suggestions? It would cost me at leat 2500-3000$ to replace everything and get back on my feet... im at my wits end as if things werent going bad enough in my life already THIS had to happen... Insurance? 5000$ deductable because of house fires in the kitchen my pops started... what luck....HEEEELP PLEASE!!! :tantrum:

I'm not trying to be a dick but this summer I broke my foot(one month of foot elevation, thus hanging out here lots then), had landlords say I didn't pay rent when I did, had to double up that payment, burnt hand bad so no work for a week, oxygen co screwed up bill by 20 hundy an yet I didn't ask folks for money. Why? Cause I plan before something bad happening an put cash away before it happens. I know it's not your fault bro an I do feel for you(I have had my shop broken into as well)but these type of threads come up on this board every other week an some of this can be prevented(money wise.) This could be you folks, so start putting away a lil nest egg (no money, bullshit, quit working five hours days with safety breaks every hour an you'll be amazed how much cash you can save up--yes do fucking production for this nest egg, get off the horse an work twelve hour day for a couple of days or a week, you've got cash) not saying that's you bro but I'm kinda getting sick of these help me threads when folks are not taking precautions of anykind, I can provide for myself just like anyone else. I would also recommend going out to the public an get some kind of pt job, like waiting tables (yeah cut the hair if ya gotta folks)

Again, I feel for you and this post isn't at you but folks gotta wake up an take precautions for themselves instead of using this board for the back-up plan. THIS COULD BE YOU NEXT WEEK so start those twelve hour days today!

Its a tough call. We ALL have families that we want to spend time with. It sucks what happened to you. It's happened to me before as well. And a bunch of the rest of us as well. If your dad's actions are affecting YOUR insurance deductible; does that mean youre still living at home? You're very lucky that so many ppl have stepped up. If it was me in your shoes; I think I'd hit my dad up. I doubt greatly that anyone is suggesting that you shouldnt spend time with your family. Maybe BC was a little callouse in his delivery but he is right on with his message. Part of being in a family is bringing something to the table and if you have to work extra hours to cover your ass and maybe even take out some kind of insurance policy that would cover something like this in the future then do it.

Sure you can put in 12 hours a day for a week for the good of your family, I'm sure they would appreciate the security that you would be providing rather than when the shit hits the fan they are fucked. i got some good advise. dont let tweekers and shaddy people in ur shop period.

if u do thats ur fault. if they are in ur shop they know what u got and ur weak spots and take advanage.so if u hang with fucked up people then fucked up things will happend.

make the most out what is offered if it be a national so be its a torch. i know a few glassblowers that put their 10 to 12 hours in atleast 2 to 3 times a week on top of the 8 hours the other days. that is so they can spend a couple a day with their kids and have the money to do cool things. if ur not down to do it then maybe a 9 to 5 would work good for ya. insurance steady money. then blow glass on the side. u can always quit after u have the $ u need to get on ur feet.

i used to be lazy but now i bust ass to be where i want to be. im lucky i dont have kids.
but some day i will and i do everything in my power to not let shit happend thatll affect them from me actions.

actually i don't let ANYONE into my shop. noone even knows i am living back where i am now unless they were driving by while i was working. I have a pretty good idea who it was anyways. I won't name any names but there was a guy that was an apprentice a loooooong time ago that i had to get rid of for some political reasons.... What am i in need of? pretty much EVERYTHING :) I have a new set of hand tools and some regs but i am still trying to muster up some funds for a torch and a kiln... it'll happen it'll just take some sweating to do which i don't mind.. its just a frustration to have to deal with.. What kinda work do i do? mostly headdie stuff with a little bit of i/o production work.. thanx again :)

seems to be an epidemic...was just at the locas glass shop and her son's studio was broken into....not only did they take a torch and some other stuff, but walked off with his motorcycle that he restored....i do have some scraps of color i can send ya if you want, not a whole lot since i'm on the poor side myself but their yours if you want them.
