I was wondering if 1080 is the right temp for encasement and stick stack pulls.Cause im having all kinds of trouble with my stick stacks cracking and when ever I take stick stacks outta the kiln a lot of the times it cracks and its not like im throwing the piece in a hot flame usually soft and still they crack :bangHead:

I got the same trouble at the begining , you probably dont leave your prep for long enought in the kiln , try to leave them for like 15-20 min in the kiln before working it , if it dont work you may set you kiln at 1100 .

yeah i usally let them sit for a while I thought it might be one of the colors?

possible , I'm not an expert ! but that was the reason why my stuff was cracking . what color do u use in those piece ?

well the one's that been giving me the most pain in the ass were the lochness onyx purple(hyacinth)

But theres been alot more that just crack when I go to work it so im not sure if its color of self error and I know my tube is melted in all the way casue when ever it breaks all of it is melted in

Lochness might be the problem, but I've never used it in a stick stack. Also, if you're wondering about correct garaging temperature, are you sure your thermocouble / controller is reading the true temperature? I've been having problems with mine lately - I'm slumping 6mm rods at 1050 degrees, which never used to happen.
