Where to spend the loot

Ok so I have $500 and I'm short everything but a torch now. I was thinking kiln and/or glasses this time around. I think that I'm going to just get the flip filters w/ diddy glasses. I also have a local glass blower looking around for glasses that people may not be using any more.. so I will see where that leads me.

As for the Kiln, think I should wait a while, get some bottles of gas and start troching and just wait on the kiln? or get the kiln and wait to get he rest?

if theres a local glass blower nearby you can just get some of that cloth and put your stuff in there after its done and batch anneal it whenever you get a chance if the guy will let you. Your going to loose some stuff of course but the first month its unlikely your going to make anythign spectactular anyway.. so I'd say get the torch.

Yeah, get the torch, and a bucket, and some vermiculite. Your first month or so you're not going to be producing anything great, and at least you can let it slow cool in the vermiculite.

If you can swing both a torch and a bead kiln, it will really help you work.....

After talking with a friend, and reading post here I'm not getting a kiln just yet. I'm going to just batch anneal what ever I make. Maybe make enough to pay for the annealer and/or just wait until I have the loot to buy one. Yep, i will be watching the glassifieds here.

So I will get some glasses, hoses, regs, flashbacks, glass, and maybe some more tools. I should have my bench together by the end of this week. I'm hoping to be melting in less than 2 weeks. Will just have to see. Thanks for the adcive.

Well It shouldn't be an issue. even if I get everything I need just got melting including glasses, not high end, but good starts i guess. I would still come out with money left over for gas, and some glass.

So i'm thinking buy at Flametree this stuff (https://flametreeglass.com/index.php?main_page=shopping_cart&sort=20a&zenid=ui8aiselne9asian8ev4nui631) (maybe you all can see that, not sure if shopping cart will link.

That should leave me with about $100 for gas. I'm thinking that will be enough, if I'm renting oxy and fillings propane.

$100 for gas might not be enough. I know some oxy companies make you sign a 5 year lease on a tank which can run $150+ after a fill
