So i've noticed a slight difference in the smell and how easy the new pads get crunchy compared to the old ones, but last night i was making a piece, and as i took it off the handle, i layered 2 new pads, with 1 old and very tattered one on top, touching the glass. everything went mostly smooth, but when i put the piece in the kiln, a spot where one of the new pads was touching it melted to it and was stuck!

I pulled it off, and it left some residue. i set my kiln to go to 1100 then anneal, so i'll see today if the res burned off and if it leaves clean ash or if its stuck to the piece. i'm gonna be pretty pissed if its stuck. why did they change the formula when the old ones worked fine?

has anyone else had a pad actually stick to and leave residue on your glass?

same problem here, .... http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27722

the stitching is melting on mine and the "made in USA" tag melted onto one of my pieces. as well as it ripping and frying and turning crispy.

hmm my pad doesnt have a made in usa tag, and i know the stitches are a different material that is lower temp, but i had never expected the actual black fabric to turn plastic and stick to my piece.

i'm not sure what you guys are using but i have me one of these:

they're the absolute shit when working with marbles, or finishing mouth pieces, or finishing large vessels...

if i fold it over i can hold large marbles or vessels for a few min without feeling it.

they don't get "crunchy" but they do smell kinda funny at first... sometimes it smokes but it never really damages the fabric.
