Here is a link to the company that I have used to get my burlwoood for over thirty years. it is manzanita Burlworks. It is in California. The best way to start is to buy a sample order.
If you jave never mounted sculptures on wood, it is very easy , for boro. Post your piecews with a 6 mm post. then dripp the wood with a 1/4 inch drill. "worm" the drill bit around va bit and the hole will accept a six mm post nicely.

Many lately have asked me about where i get my burlwood.

thanks for the link. I was getting some wood that looked like what you have from a place in Miami, they have gone out of business. They said the wood was teak. it looked similar but not glossy finished.

Snake... that is essentially the definition of thread jacking.
The subject is objects to mount glass sculpture on, with the example being manzanita burls.
You took it to Cuba at gun point.

For those in the northeast,( I'm in MA) I use this place for their exotic woods. The burl materials they have on hand are luscious eye candy. You start looking at them and the wheels start turning about potential uses.

i guess this is sort of a thread jack, but i think it will go with this ones so here goes.
i have been a custom woodworker for almost 15 years and many of you on here have seen my work and the woods i use.
almost everything i work is figured woods from every species you can probably think of.
well i have tons, and i do mean littereally tons of shorts that are too nice and expensive to discard but are not big enough for my furniture or sculpture.
i have sold truckloads of off cuts and if i get enough interest on here i can put together nice 10 pound bags of various woods that you could use for your stands or whatever your intentions are with the woods.
if you are looking for strictly burlwood then i have always bought my burls from exotic burl in oregon. the lady that owns the place is great and she too has small stuff.
i can put pics of the types i have on hand and am looking to move if anyone is interested.
thanks, jay

Did anyone ever get any from 331 stroker? I've been thinking of mounting some pieces, and that sounds like a hell of a deal!

if you need stands i can help you out. i have a request for a batch of 30 but i want to do them in batches of 100 so i am holding out until i get another order or two.

as for the wood. it seems the stuff i have is such odd sizes that fitting in boxes is just too awkward and unless i cut the stuff up more. as it is, it will not be consistant amounts.
i sell this usually as a local craigslist type thing where i fill up a truck bed with scraps for a few hundred bucks. i think i am gonna have to stick to local pick up on the rough wood.
i just dont think i can do it for a price that is fair to both of us with the boxes available at the post office for the bulk priority stuff.
sorry i spoke before i got the facts.
