Just don't heavily fume a very long rod with silver & gold and then stand outside holding it up into the air.

I think he's referring to a possible power outage. I experienced this just yesterday, the lights flickered but never went out. I imagine it could be very costly if it went out at the wrong time during a piece.

This is an almost daily occurrence here this time of year. If the power goes out, shut off the torch, and close up the kiln tight. No problem..

Make sure you flip off the switch to the kiln. Unplugging can't hurt either to protect the relay from surges.
