so after sending my invoices as excel files for about a year, my distributor says the reason my last check is more than 30 days late (past the 30 days given) is that they cant read my invoice, and could i please send it as a .pdf. I've been trying to google this issue, and either get free programs that leave a watermark on my fininshed document, or webpages that will do it and email me a converted file, but its slow, and it deletes itself shortly after it appears. I was wondeirng what program you make your invoices in to get them in .pdf format.

PDFCreator doesn't watermark. It installs as a virtual printer.

There are many PDF file creators.... Most PRINT to file.......
Which you can print to paper from file or send PDF file electronically... You can lock file so it can not be altered.......
Do not understand the need to be watermarked, as whatever you create into PDF will be unique and unalterable once locked...
Try GOOGLE Search for: "free pdf creator".
There are many choices out there, perhaps one will also watermark you files....
Also think your supplier if futzing with you...
We were able to use PDF files and document scans and then convert scans to PDF to complete home purchase. Made document signing and exchanges almost painless and instantaneous... Not once did anybody require any "watermarks" on any documents ....

if you can get a version of acrobat pro, once installed it will integrate with ms office and allow you to save/export any file, doc, xls as a pdf.
if you're in a bind, email me the file and i'll send it back as a pdf.

Just out of curiosity, did you just move to Office 2007 recently? The reason I ask is because you mention that it's an .xlsx file, and prior to 2007, the file extension was .xls
He may not be able to read your file cause he's running an older version of office. If that's the case, tell him to install the Office 2007 converter pack found on Microsoft's website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
But yeah, also install a PDF printer. I use CutePDF, but where I work we use PDF creator, and they both do the job they're intended to do.

Couldn't you set the parameters to save the .xlsx file in old .xls format? Seems it would do a lot for compatibility and sort of give the finger to microsoft.... Just asking.....
I know in my 2003 version it has option under Files 'Save As' and at bottom of page "Save as type" to save in a lot of different formats and older compatible versions (such as EXCEL 97- EXCEL 03 & 05).........

Yeah, you can do that. I'm just noting what a potential cause for the issue could be.
acrobat is free and you can print to a printer called pdf printer or something like that it basically saves it to a location as a pdf

Acrobat, by Adobe is not free......... They do allow you some free trials online for PDF creation trough.....
There is a lot of programs (clones) that "copy" the acrobat concept to create PDF files that are free though.......
At least that is how I understand it...
