Alright, these are my first decent pipes. Ive had a lot of trial and error, but i think i have kind of grasped the concept of the spoon. These are the first consistent pipes so far. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions for me! Thanks a lot!

Cool thanks guys! Ive been on the torch for just over a month now... I bought a lynx from a member on this forum, and i am in love with it. Its my baby! I have never had a hobby that i was really passionate about, and i think i have found it... :bouncy: I think all my pockets have holes in them now... lol

Looks like your off to a good start. After a couple hundred of them you will probably start to like the way they are turning out. Keep at it. Glass is definitely a rewarding craft.

Yeah lookin good. I would suggest trying a more even pattern when you lay your colors down. It helps melt in even. Make sure your bowl holes arent too big. I had a lot of people complaining about that on my first spoons. Keep up the good work!

People like to be able to see in the bowl while smoking, so it's nice to angle your bowl towards the mouthpiece.
To do this, lift the mouth off of the marver maybe 30 to 45 degrees while you stamp the bowl (pressing straight down). You may need to pop your hole a little more on the mouth side of the 'equator' of the bowl bubble (if that doesn't make sense i can explain further).
Also, do some reading on 'devit' - it looks like you've got some devitrification on the pipe in your second pic.
Other than that, great work! My favourite is the last one.

Ya that one in the second pic had a lot of devit... I stretched the stem when it was a little too cold. Since then i have stretched it when it was much hotter. If you could, would you explain how to angle the bowl a little better for me? Thanks for the comments guys!

Just punch it at an angle. Whatever those cream colors are, I'm guess they had siver in them and your over reduced them. To keep this from happening, either crank up the oxy or stripe the color stick with 2 or 3 mm clear rod so no color is unprotected, then pull into a stringer. The colors won't reduce with a shield of clear over them. Keep your psi on your gas/oxy as high as the manufacture allows. Now make sure you give those pipes away.....for some smoke!

Ya i was thinking that they were over reduced. It seems like i cant really "rage" on my lynx without it being a reducing flame tho. Eh such is life. I will try the clear on the rod trick tho thanks for that!

Loving the little blue pipe, two pics up. Keep at it, and play with your lynx some more, you should be able to get a CRAZY oxidizing flame off that bad boy, just turn the oxy/force up real high

The oxy was up high...
The blue was just cobalt over white stringer.
I have my pressures set at 20 oxy/ 5 propane. Thats what seems to work the best for me. Im running real low on colors right now, i need to pick up some new stuff.. Just gotta get some money first

Yeah, that's always kills me not having money and supplies. But don't worry, keep on it, and once you get better you'll be able to make much money off the glass and be able to order more. Def look like me first pieces, prolly a little better. Just work on condensing and gaining thickness in the glass. You look like you're well on your way, keep up the good work!!!

I made this one last night.. Don't pay attention to the colors, they're just some scraps. I was more focused on the shaping of it... I think the shaping turned out pretty well

There ya go!!! You def got the condensing of the neck down...now that you can do that, you can shape it alllll different ways!!! Now, I would say work on the shaping of your bowlhead. What I do is get a nice even gather on the end, then you wanna hold your piece straight vertically while rotating, giving it a puff every couple seconds, as long as you have a nice thick gather it will hold the heat so you can take your time. If you do it right you'll get the nice tight curve in between the bottom of the bowlhead and the top of the neck. Dude, I def say now that you got your shaping, pull some stringers, and start laying then on your blank, theyll def melt in. By the way, what size tube are you using? Def lookin good, repped!!

Hey thanks man! Im workin on 25x4 tube right now.. Thats really all i have at the moment... Ya that last pipe felt much better while making it. Im starting to get the hang of it, it feels like at least. It went much quicker than the other pipes i'd made. The bowl isn't as thick as the stem, but i think if i had started out with a longer blank, then i think i coulda had a better bowl. Oh well tho, i think its all startin to come together on the spoons. Now i just gotta practice the hell out of it, and maybe i'll be good to go.
Rep'd ya as well!

I didn't realize until I read it, that you're using a lynx!!! Props to that too! Never used a straight lynx, but I gotta major minor and I'm sometimes finding myself wanting a bigger flame. You're tubing size seems pretty right on, you could maybe go up to 32x4 if you want to go bigger, but I dunno if the lynx can handle it. Once again keep up the good work!

I rocked a Lynx for a litle on and off, I rock a Major, I prefer my Major for size ANY day, the lynx is awesome but it doesn't do shit to 44x4 quicker than a major.

Not to threadjack or anything, this is a fairly simple question, but sativa, have you ever used any type of 50mil on the major? I've used 38x2 for my first iso, but was wondering how big I could go.
Robby, your work is coming along nicely. One thing that I noticed is that on your spiral patterns they all twist the same direction. Not a problem, but for most of us when we started the glass would naturally twist in one direction over the other. At your early stage in the game, I would suggest making a conscious effort to make more pieces that twist the direction that you're LEAST comfortable with so that you practice on your weaknesses instead of your strengths. This way, as you evolve and grow in to more complex patterns, you will have much more thorough control of the medium. Keep it up!

FGA- I have never gone up to 50 mil for anything other thn dabbling, the bit I did was just a pain, like working 44x4 on a lynx lol

Hah ya man i keep noticing that too! It kinda pisses me off. I guess im spinning one side faster than the other.. I actually tried focusing on it, and the whole thing kinda went wonky. But ya, i do need to focus on that some more. Thanks for the advice man. It is much appreciated!!!

The way I found works best for me, is to slow down a little bit and see which way the glass is twisting and adjust with your hands to keep it straight. That and pulling out in the back of the flame to cool and condense a little.
I found myself twisting in one direction and it looking good too!! Now I'm onto the next step which as you can see in those new chillums I posted, are the first steps to making wig wags. Just twisting in one direction, then the other. Next step would be condensing it into a r ball.
Keep it up robby! You're one step behind me, and may very well just pass me!
Also, sativa, looking at 44x3.2 for the major
