I have some, anyone got ideas?

So far all I can think of is a tall cylindrical fish tank. it's a horrible idea... but people buy stupid things all the time.

like 250x9 tube.

cut holes in two fish tanks, and epoxy that tube between them... of course have the tanks where you want them first... they wont move again... fill with water, and enjoy

Do you have a lathe that can handle it? You could make drums.

Kool

Before you make anything with it I think you should put it over your head and take a picture.

I wish I had a lathe big enough for that.... I like the Drum idea. Maybe I can get Tuba out here and we'll free hand it.

A couple minors and a redmax should be plenty, right?

...
Oh, It's Schott Duran. If you need any let me know, there's more where that one came from...

What was it PREVIOUSLY used for? Was it from a milk factory? Or a chemical place? Just curious...

If a lathe has the clearance, it gets to be a question of how to chuck it up. Tailstock not fit over it? Inside is risky from a strength perspective, but done gently on the inside, with the assistance of a set of rollers, might let you paddle it down to but-seal on whatever size tube the lathe will fit. Don't get me wrong, I have very little experience on a lathe and this is just brainstorming. I fucked up what I was making on the lathe today, and I have a real hard time trying to work by machine.

Get a big enough set of rollers and cook the ends down to fit in the chocks. Like a doubled ended point.

That thing's a beast. Make the world's largest hooka and sell it to some coffeeshop in amsterdam. They'd put it to the test.

Trev bought a 325mm x something one and it was used at Burningman with some big blow torches to make a big ole sonic type boom... so I heard... (That was his deal a couple of years ago)

Doug

First you round off one ends and then blow a 100m/m hole in the middle of the tube then round off the other end and then lay it on two wooden saddles and fill the tube with water and fish.

Or make a very big punch bowl for one hell of a party.

Just put me in a shop with a K lathe and it's done!

oh good lord...why must every thread I start turn into a feltching or docking thread...

(google: docking, aka snoodling)

... so my head will not fit in the tube.... maybe, but it's got sharb ends, not fire polished, so I can't really squeeze into it...

for now it's a cool display piece in my shop. I am thinking of getting another one and making a bar out of them tho. I have some ebony veneer that I've been wanting to use.... just an idea.

Greymatter Glass

probably a bar.

To all your guys suggesting it as an air cooling tube for a lightbulb... seriously... pay attention. this is a 10 INCH diameter tube, it's a bit large for cooling a light....

I'd like to get access to a lathe large enough to work it, but since i don't have that I'll find a way to use it "as is" ... I'll need another one for the bar.

pull it down to 6" and build a support and socket set to insert. Get a few big uns in there and light up yer garage without boiling the oil.

It shouldn't be that hard to find a planetary that could grab that. (I think mine would). Bore is 6". Get a few more, grab a video camera, rent the studio and hire Hamm...

If nothing else, it could be good you tubing.

lol. Good luck.

I was trying to find the site of this art chick that makes open ones that are more like terrariums. She did these awesome microlandscapes with living plants and such.

Last time i tried this, poor guy didnt make it. You need one hole for intake, and one for out take.

My mother in law has a 40 gallon milk bottles that was filled with water carniverouse plants and sealed with a large cork for the last 35 years.
There are flying bugs, algea, and worm like things in there. It also seems to rain in there whene it gets hot. I always wanted to make one for myself.

You could make your own eco sphere, then give it to your kids one day.
