Hello everyone, I've been stalking these boards for months now, just got started w/beginner lessons w/boro, and can't wait until I can get my own setup to make some really awesome ideas into reality.
Anyhow down the road I want to make a sweet tube for myself and i wanna plan it now with everyone's awesome opinion.
To start, itd be a beaker base, w/a 18mm fixed downstem, or 18mm stemless cuss i want the attatchments to be vertical.
I really like the difused arm tree percs, but hate too much drag.
itd be clear, w/several color worked bands. i think id use black/white/black/a blue of some sort/black/white/black as my colors, and the blue would be a thinner line than the white and black. on the base of the beaker id want that to have either the same color pattern or the same minus the blue. the bottom would be a nice basket weave.
So, who wants to put in their two cents or more, it'd be greatly appreciated.

We should get all the people from all the different glass boards to help you too. WHat's the URL for the one bead site?

Is this the reason Slinger won't come around here any more?

Where to start? Give yourself a few months to years making beads, pendants, marbles, spoons, and up. After that, then you can tackle a tube. In the meantime, build your skills. There's nothing wrong with dreaming big, but at the same time, you know why they build foundations under houses, right?

No reason to wait. I think your close to prepared now. Tubes are not that difficult to make especially if you know alot about them. My boy that had never blown glass made a tree perc inline tube on my lathe first try. He forgot to cut on slit on one of the tree arms but that's it. It was worked reversals too! Good luck

if you can get any fire on decals of skulls or flames that would be hella sickies for Halloween.

if you can get any fire on decals of skulls or flames that would be hella sickies for Halloween.
hella sickness for sure, but that would clash with the basket, a bell that rings, and things that make it look good...
I'd smoke it for you if I could...

I think it needs a glass goat skull as well. I suggest Egyptian Sands white for the skull.

Add a patch of mushrooms at the bottom. Don't forget the trippy dots!

as long as its covered in mushroom marbles and wrap and rake you should be good to go. of course you could just go with making yourself a fully worked reversal under reversal in reversal disc flipped reversal tube. give it a good water anneal to make those colors really bling.

Think you guys left out the 8 arm tree perc and the triple butt seal stem. Sorry this is coming up so late in the conversation. Hope it can still get worked in.
It's gotta be triple blown. maybe a fat waterless bubbler.

What about a special roast beef curtain mouth piece?

Or perhaps some Color changing glass in there, some stuff that will really change well when you burn with it. and dont ever neglect the chance to add a bic lighter to any piece. I can be done by simply welding the lighter to the pipe

and make sure you encase some gunpowder or sodium phosphates. Big color effects to be had there

Good call on the lighter! When my kids where born (twins), I took pics of them w/ a lighter to show perspective, really gives you a good idea of the actual size. Rock on Sativa!

so whats up? any pictures to post yet?
i just wanted to add that while encasing gunpowder is a simple and easy technique for beginners, there are a few things you should probably know. make sure you have a blow hose attached, as you will want to suck in as soon as the powder is poured into the white hot 16x2.8mm tubing. you will want to oxidize your clothes and the area around you before you do this, as youll need an oxidizing environment to encase your powder. now your ready to fill your 16 mil tubing with some old fashion gunpowder, but using the right amount is crucial. i strongly recommend using the distance between the main knob and the safety valve on your propane tank as a measurement for how much to add. dont be afraid to press it against the tank as your filling. remember, your going for for accuracy. good luck!
