Lookin' good man - line work is tough.
Your shaping looks pretty good on that last one, but it's hard to give any advice without some clearer pictures (should you work on that weld? is it an even thickness? etc.). As far as I can tell it looks like a pretty sweet bubbler that you should be proud of.
Keep it up!

Favorite piece to date and some bubs. Cant believe i cant sell this stuff. My work must have the plague. I offer it to the shops and they tell me its too expensive. Im pretty sure they are all on crack because i thought ten bucks was unreasonably cheap. almost costs me more than that to make.
sorry to ramble but i had to get that off my chest its really bothering me because i cant work to get better if i cant sell anything.

I tend to show up with prodo to get in shops , even those damn glass screens I have used . Show up with 40 of the cheap pankers , sell for 5$ each , they tend to grab 30 or so , next time have your prodo but have some nicer stuff . Now your in and when those cheap things sell quick they look a little more . Make sure you work steady to transition or they may tag you with as a prodo guy , they will try , youll notice it by a little hesitation to look at nicer stuff , but just narrow the # of prodo pieces brought , so the normal amount they spend will encompass some nicer stuff .

The other way is to show up with a good selection of nicer stuff so they can pick , makes it seem less of a gamble if they can deny a couple pieces , like they got the cream of the crop .

I think of it like this they are gambling , if they drop 150 on prodo that doesnt sell , its easier to swallow than loosing 400 on stuff that wont sell . At least those cheap ones they can drop price and not lose as much , or use them for give aways , or grab bags .

PS I think the price is more than reasonable , maybe mix the prices up a bit , if all are the same price they think they should be close to the same piece .

GOOD LUCK

I hear what your saying nubblet. good advice. Its just so hard for me to deal with the store owners. they all try to rip me off and there are only two in my area and one of them i wont deal with at all because the owner is a complete bitch that says she gets all her spoons for four dollars and that is just crazy talk. The other place is cool but they bought from me once and now when i go in they say the cases are full before i can get my stuff out. dont know if its me or what. He said he liked my work and its only gotten better. I wish there were more stores around bellingham. it makes me depressed.

thats one hell of an offer I just went out to work on some more bubblers and my kiln wont turn on. Anyone know about an aim cr420d. The power switch wouldent move. I forced it like an idiot and it made a wierd sound. a crunch maybe. anyway no power so i opened the bottom and theres a wire burned off and i dont know where the hell it goes. this is unreal only had it for six months and this is a very big inconvienience. someone please help.

check the forum , at one point there was a wiring diagram for switches .

01-15-2010, 06:09 PM
Im so relieved. thought my kiln was toast. I called aim and a rep helped me figure out where the wire went. and then he diagnosed the power switch failed. I went to home depot and got one for seven dollars. now my kiln turns on and im doing a test run to make sure its all fixed:D

Yay for repaired kilns! Glassman, your work is looking nice - I especially like the blue & yellow one - those colors play very well together!

One idea regarding approaching shops - have you considered calling in advance and making an appointment? That's what the shop here prefers - they won't look at your stuff if you walk in off the street, you gotta have an appointment.

Hang in there and keep melting and posting!

Whew! My kiln kicking the bucket is one of my biggest fears (cause it'd be a bitch to replace!)

Hope your test run goes well!

I just ran the kiln and it works great. the cheapest fix i could have ever asked for. I am so happy. Thanks for the kind words and i will keep posting now that i can make stuff again. i give a one up for the guys at aim, ive herd bad things about them but they had me going in a few hours. He even told me where to get the part if i didnt want to wait for shipping. Glasstree I would still like to come down and work with you or watch you work evan. I have never worked with someone else and think i would learn an immense amount. What should i bring and when would you want to do it. anyway i should probably pm this to you so ill stop rambling.
