Is anyone looking for an apprentice in minnesota??? I am from the New Prague area (about 40 min south of the twin cities). Looking to make various kinds of pipes. Does anyone on here blow for some of the local head shops like clown or in a fish bowl?? I have been looking at this forum everyday for the last 2 weeks trying to figure out the best way to get into glass blowing... I am considering buying a cheap torch (nat 3a w/ some tips??), the minimum amount of tools, gas and oxy equipment, ventilation, etc and just winging it. This way I can buy a more expensive torch down the line if everything works out. I would prefer the apprenticeship route, starting out on the right equipment and learning from someone that knows what the hell they are doing... Saving me time and money. Maybe a trade?? Does anyone want to learn to play the guitar?

I'm in MN but up in Duluth. I know there are a few guys down your way that might do what you're interested in. I don't make many pipes but I do offer lessons and in my opinion you need to work with solid glass a few times before you jump into blowing so my lessons would do a good job of getting you the basics. PM me if you'd like more info

I AM IN DULUTH TOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! if you come up I have some stuff to show starters and would be more then willing to arrange something if you really wann tooo, but( no pipes) but lots of foundation stuff..... In the twin cities though their are litterally hundreds of lampworkers someone down their who could show you what you wanna do,. dan is really good lampworker, you could make a couple days out of it and all, and learn from 2 people.... be well, thanks much jes

hey cr, we're in rochester, we've got a 5 station shop, 3 pretty full time slots taken. i don't have much time to type.. (2 kids)
so, pm me and let me know what you've got in mind, and i might be able to get more time to say what we have to offer.

i tried the guitar for a couple weeks... i usually compare blowing glass to learning it. you suck at it for a long time, and you have to WANT to learn.. otherwise, forget it.
