Hey Mike, would you please get back to me concerning my order? I emailed you monday morning and called you tuesday afternoon, and I need to know what the status of my order is as I need to submit the receipt to my flex plan before the end of the year, or the money I had saved for glasses will be forfeited to Uncle Sam....which would be totally not cool.

Hehe well im newer than you, but i think they are referring to the fact that Mike can take the time to post on this thread instead of just taking the time to deal with his business with other forum members... Kinda sad really.. I really hope he contacted the other two members about their glasses, for his sake at least

To bad, lost a sale. Still would like to get mine fixed though.

I've got a custom pair of Oakleys that I had AW-250s put in that were allegedly mailed 2.5 weeks ago via USPS 2-3 day priority (instead of the 2nd day I requested).
This would be my third pair of Aura's, I've never had a problem before, but I get the sinking feeling I'm about to be out $300+ for glasses that, assuming they shipped at all (the post office only says a shipping number was generated, that they can't prove they were ever shipped), have gotten lost. My emails to Mike about this and insurance (if any) have gone unanswered. Yes, he's been sick. But he's had time to post here...
At this point I'm just going to wait another 2 weeks, chargeback the Visa for the lens conversion, and just eat the cost of the custom Oakleys.
Merry freaking xmas.

No reason to stress about them being lost, This is one of mike's "tricks" he goes online, and generates a label for your package so that you will leave him alone and it gives him more time to not finish your glasses. I'm sure yours are sitting in his shop right now with the factory lenses in them still.

Okay, it's now Friday morning and still nothing.
I actually own a pair of Phillips Fit overs (since I wear glasses) and I fucking love them. But after a long time, having two frames on my face starts to kind of fatigue the bridge of my nose. So i figured I'd be better off with the split lens in a prescription (cause I can't see a damn thing going on with out the help pf my glasses).
The thing that really pisses me off about this is that I had a few reasons for ordering these glasses.
1) I need a prescription split lens and Phillips doesn't do that.
2) I actually like Mike (though I haven't met him before), but I find his safety advice helpful, even if it is a little heavy handed.
3) I had been part of the aura boycott, and had started hearing that things had turned around, so I figured that I would do my order with them, and then post about my good experience to help show that Aura was turning around.
I've been putting money in my flex plan all year with the sole intention of buying prescription glassblowing glasses. I contacted Mike almost two months ago just to ask what he needed from me so I could get them. I especially asked him (and this is verbatim from the email I sent him, ) "Since the money in my flex plan would re-imburse me for it, as long as it's purchased this year, what is the current projected turn around time for a pair of prescription 325 in one of these frames? If it's over 3 weeks, could I possibly have a reciept send to me shortly after I pay so I could submit it to my flex plan company and not having to worry about it getting in too late?"
His response was "Yes, we can do that".
I ordered the glasses on November 6th, and got him my pupillary distance measurement on Nov 9th , and was told the glasses would be started that day.
Since it's getting close to the end of the year, I emailed him and called him last week, cause I need to have my CC charged and get that receipt to my flex plan soon, and have not heard a thing back, other than him posting on here he would get back to me.
So here it is, 5 weeks later. I'm running out of time before all the money in my flex plan is forfeited to the US government, and I can't even get the guy to return my emails.
My patience is shot now. I'm sorry Mike, I really wanted to believe in you and you let me down. I'll be calling Phillips today to see if they can help me and I'll be calling my credit card company to cancel the payment. Sorry, I would have figured that that $430 would have really helped you out in these tough economic times. Apparently I was incorrect. Thanks for wasting my time.

Just talked with Ryan Philips. He's going to custom make me a pair of split lenses, in the frames I want (I was worried that since I have such a heavy scrip, I would only be able to get the ugly ass frames). The funniest part is, he said to me "I can do it, but it's going to cost you a lot." I asked how much, and he throw out the same price as Aura Lens normal price...
So he was more than happy to take my money, charge my card immediately, and give me an honest estimate of when they would arrive (between the 28th and 31st, since it's their busy season). The one thing that annoys me is, had I known that Aura was going to flake out on me, I could have ordered these around thanksgiving, when Philips was having their big sale.
Also, I checked my statement from Aura, and they have my old credit card number (my bank had to re-issue about 5000 credit cards, cause some other bank they had dealings with had a security breach, so as a precautionary measure, my bank sent a bunch of people new cards, myself included). So Mike, if you're reading this, and thinking that you will now charge my card to make life hard for me, it's not going to work. Talk about a blessing in disguise.
So, that's that. Sorry it had to happen this way Mike, but all it would have taken is a little bit of communication on your part, and for you to hold up your end of the bargain. Which you did not. Further luck to you in all of your business endeavors, jsut rest assured that none of them will be with me.

Email has been sent to Aura asking them to cancel the order. I have a great paper trail of all of this (with time and date stamps included), so Mike, please don't try to change your story, as I'll gladly post all of it.
Icarus, make sure that you check your credit card statement. Aura charged me the day I made the order, which is in breach of the merchant agreement with the credit card. Mike said that this was a software issue that has since been resolved, but Mike says a lot of things...

Thanks for the heads up. I've been checking every other day for the past three weeks. No charge as of yet. Since he waited so long, and my bank had to issue me a new card, he'll have a hard time charging it without getting my new number.

you guys are brutal..........:dieslaugh
haha. brutal.....
whats brutal is taking somebodys money for a product..and not giving them said product....all the while their money is tied up with you preventing them from purchasing something else from somewhere else.
or, sending a defective product to someone...and when they ask for repair, tell them its not covered because it is wear and tear....even though the costumer called the day they recieved the product to tell you there was something wrong with it.
or recieving a glassblowers only pair of glasses for repair, and taking forever to send them back.
glasses are essential. every bad decision that man makes jeopardises the state of someone elses business.
maybe he should shell out some money for one of us to hold on to untiil we feel like giving it back.

This is sad. A great product and horrible supplier. But Mike is consistent in screwing people over kilns and glasses, the two things that a glass artist truly needs.
I fail to understand why people keep dealing with Aura/Mike. This is not the only forum where Aura/Mike have come under fire for bad service. Glasses and kilns are not cheap. If I were going to spend a large amount of money with a company, I would do a little research first, like searching here and on LE for customer service. With all that information available, I would run far and fast away before I did business with Mike/Aura...Smithy

Ya know. That's the thing. I've read all of those threads, had things to say in most of them, and had a decent idea what I was getting into. But I had been starting to hear that people had been having much better luck, and I was really hoping after the whole "Med" thing that dude was getting his act straightened up. I was really hoping that things would go smoothly, and I could jump on here and post "hey, guess what guys. I ordered some glasses from Aura, and they came through without any hassle."
And probably even if at a different time of year I may be more understanding. But Mike knows what the deal is with my order, that I needed the receipt in a timely manner so I could get it into my flex plan before the end of the year. I spoke with him about it in several different emails, and he assured me that it would be no problem at all. Two weeks ago I was starting to get worried cause I hadn't been charged or contacted (as I mentioned, in the time since I put in my order, my bank issued new cards to a bunch of their members, so I actually have a new number but Mike has my phone number to call and get that new number, otherwise I'm rarely away from my computer for more than 12 hours, so I'm pretty speedy at answering emails when it's important). So I called and emailed him and got nothing until he posted that he was sick. Then on Monday he posted that he would be getting back to me that day or the next, and I never heard from him. Finally, I got sick of putting up with this and worrying that my $450 prescription glasses would all of a sudden become $900 glasses (since the money I had in my flex plan would have been forfeited to the IRS, and I would still have to pay for the glasses).
So yeah, I guess I wanted to believe in someones ability to change, even though they let a bunch of other people down before and then acted as if they had changed.
Lesson learned.

I wasn't talking about you in my post. I also thought that Mike was getting his act together after he screwed Clear Dome. I probably would have given him a second chance also.
As far as I'm concerned, Mike has had his second chance. I guess some things never change.

Icarus......sooo glad things worked out for you.
I'm glad I got to read this today, as I'm getting ready to assemble my teaching booklets for Glasscraft Expo shortly. Teaching four different classes, 8 students each...total of 32, do that times 8yrs...256, plus add the number of times I've recommended Aura eyewear in private classes, casual conversation, internet boards, emails sent to me...over 10yrs......hummmm, lost count now..then times those, the amounts of those people passing info on to other peeps???? priceless advertising.
In the back of my teaching booklet is a list of websites, companies etc for my students to refer to, that I stand by & support. Last year Phillips lens info was ADDED to the eyewear section, right along side of Auralens.....this year? There will be NO Aura lens listed as a recomendation from me, cause I'm damn tired of all this crap...what the hell good is your product if you can't get it?
In the future, if I'm asked about your company, I'll just give them the advice to do a search on the internet, along with all the glass forums...that's more advertising for you than I could do in a lifetime.
