So I recently acquired a carlisl CC and was previously using a lynx. While I prefer this torch over the lynx I seem to be having some issues. I run my oxy at 36 psi and propane at 5 psi. Are these setting okay? I ask because whn using black and cobalt a haze forms that I cannot burn off. I'll post pics in abut of an example. I never had this issue with my lynx.

Also when I do a tube pull I have cracking about 1-2 inches from the taper of the pull. Obviously when it cools down. How do I prevent this?

Another thing is when working on an inside out piece, how do I keep the handle from getting hot. I see ppl using pointing the flame inside the opening. When I do this it gets hot as he'll and I can't hold it. Am I suppose to use a blow hose on the end and blow so the heat escapes?

Sorry for the "newb" questions but I'm trying to figure this out on my own.

Thanks!!

the haze is most likely lack of O2 , a lot of blacks and dark cobalts need a HIGH oxy ratio

second thing try sticking the pulls in the kiln this should stop the cracks

try capping the end of the handle , often called a policeman just a small piece of rubber tube glued or taped shut , or an ear plug .......... this will prevent the heat from shooting up the handle tube , once the color is in and the end is almost closed take it off , otherwise closing can expand the air and reopen the end or suck into the tube

i use sticky tack on the end of the ppoint cheap and easy.. turn your oxy really high the whole time youre working the black stuff

try working the color further out in the flame for your reduction problems.
