So after Voic posted his mini tute (http://www.talkglass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29598) something he said about melting the color in without letting it implode twigged in my head about some insect marble techniques I was starting to play around with a couple of years ago, but never pursued further because of time restraints and other more lucrative work. I've still got the time issue, but seeing I just finished up on some good jobs (including a commission to make glass props for a new movie which is being shot as we speak) I thought I'd treat myself to some play before totally gearing up on xmas crap.
these are some of the preliminary results ... it's still got some fine tuning to go, but it's getting there. Unfortunately on the last pendant, the colour I pulled the stringer from proved to be very brittle in such a thinness and kept breaking and turned out all blobby :(

Sorry I stole your heading stylez, Ben, can you forgive me? Will you still love me tomorrow? :mushy:

I hope they lead to some sales, actually :P

I've decided on no webs yet, just having fun playing around trying to refine the insides when I have a little time. Here's another couple, a crab and I know, I know, someone's gonna say scorpions don't have 8 legs ... I know that now, too ... teach me to go ahead and make something before checking my references to make sure ... so he'll probably be the only one with 8 legs unless people want mutants instead ...
crab is 39mm diameter and scorp is 48mm

haha, thanks Ben, I was a bit worried you were gonna come down here and whoop my ass ... but I couldn't resist stealing such an awesome heading, I'll be laughing all the way to the pawnshop. I still want to spend some time in one of your island marbles, looks like a nice place to spend a couple of weeks fishing off the beach.

Snake, I made two of these and they're gone already, I'll make some more when I have some time, but the next week is going to be doing some serious work, I got a xmas fair coming up next weekend and all I have so far are some crappy pendant :P (it's not like I've been sitting on m fat ass doing nothing though). I'll let you know when I've got another one.

In the meantime, here's the second one I made. The colour emitted some bubbles in this one ... I don't like so many bubbles.

I wish I woulda taken a picture of the look on my face when I saw that first face hugger mib. Now instead of a marble encase in a cylinder. Dude, you'll make a fortune selling to all the Aliens paraphernalia collectors. Probly end up creating some new marble collectors.
