So I've finally got my wife interested in doing glass. She's an amazing quilter and I thought that fusing and slumping would be right up her alley. So we've got a 4' x 2' x 2' kiln coming in January for slumping and fusing and wanted to pick some heads on which books/resources you feel are the best at technical data as well as artistic quality on the subject. Our intern has some great knowledge on most techniques, but I wanted to fill my wife's head with as much info before she gets started.

Thanks ahead of time.

jim kervin has a book called "more than you ever needed to know about glass bead making. it has a great section on fused beads and cycles, we used to do like 50 to 75 beads per firing. it is great to start with beads and tiles because you can experiment a ton without waste.the assembly is alot like quilting.

he also has a book on kiln casting and pate de verre that he did. i was going to try it but downsized, so i don't have fusing and cutting/asssembly areas in my shop. i wuld gladly send you the kiln casting/pate de verre book, you would probably dig it.

I can recommend Keith Cummings' book (http://www.upenn.edu/pennpress/book/432.html).

If you think how good Bandhu Dunham's book is, this is the equivelant for kilnformed glass.

Loads of useful info in easy to understand format, excellent insight to annealling.

Well worth the money.
