ok maybe that's extreme but I really need to find a different way to read and post on the board. I truly miss the vb skin. I'm sure I'm on Misha's list of people to help and I'm also sure Misha is to busy to deal with it. I would love to know if any other mods or administrators can bring back the vb skin. I'm willing to bribe someone if they can make it happen.

I've been a loyal member since the first days of conception and don't think I've missed a day until recently. I have been highlighting the posts as I read but it's a pain in the ass. Does anyone have any clever ideas on how I can change the light writing on dark background. I blow glass every day just like most on here and after work this skin is barely readable. I find myself visiting less and reading less.

Please help if possible.

Thank You and sorry for the rant.

this isn't a permanent solution but on the gldg addy i get the white background, on the talkglass.com addy i get the blue. eventually the gldg addy will die but were letting people have time to get used to the crossover. on a sidenote, that white background gives me mad headaches.

I still use the THEGLDG addy and get automatically redirected to talkglass and its the blue background.

Thanks Mer but I do still use the old gldg and don't have that option it is all blue. Is it really that hard to have the vb skin I don't care about updated banners besides that what changed? Was there some type of upgrade in the software?

Thanks ornametalsmith the printable version is fine but it's not interactive as far as posting.

Optimally I'd like to pay a professional vBulletin theme designer for a new skin with an integrated light/dark switcher (and a bunch of kickass new features for everyone) -- basically something that looks identical except for the colors. It's certainly on the list, but that one's gonna be expensive, probably about $500-750 or so.

*cough- cough* I know a guy who's really into developing for CSS and PHP... who just might have recently been laid off... let me know... i'll put you in touch...

Any experience with vBulletin themes specifically? That's kind of one reason I want to go with an established developer, as VB has a habit of changing a lot of stuff between updates that require the template to be modified accordingly. About half of the high-end development companies I've looked into offer three- and six-month update packages included with the theme delivery.

hey sky, maybe try this:
at bottom right side of screen, there is a % control button, which controls the size of the text.
if you increase it to 125%, it makes the text bigger & easier to read, yet still keeps the entire page on the screen.

maybe that would help a little.

that is only there in newer versions of IE. if you have fire fox or safari or chrome you can go:

View > zoom > zoom +

does the same thing

Also will work by holding control and scrolling your mouse wheel.

Also will work by holding control and scrolling your mouse wheel.

Even easir, hold down the control key (Ctrl) while hitting plus or minus.

ctrl + = zoom in
ctrl - = zoom out

Very easy to use and works for most browsers as well as a lot of other apps (such as Adobe).

Thanks Gypsea! That does help a bit. I didn't check the board for a few days now I'm 300 posts behind. Zooming in helps I'm thinking more ambient light behind me also helps.

Anyway I still have my fingers crossed that when the birthday banner goes away the vb skin will reappear. So let's get the party started!
