Hey folks. I am in the market for a camera for glass pictures, I really have no idea where to start, I have around 300 tops to spend at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Where are you going to place the pictures for viewing? Online, are you going to print them? What do you intend to do with these pics? Regular run of the mill post to forum pics? Buy almost any digital camera that has at least 10 megapixels. These cameras will give you a picture quality that most users will not need or even be able to use. Standard resolution of 800 X 600 pixels are what most applications are designed to display. (What is your desktop resolution?) A 10.0 megapixel camera has a resolution of 3648 X 2736 pixels. You can see that the picture has to be "downgraded" to display on a standard monitor. Buy you a good digital camera for your lifestyle and it will be fine for glass pictures. Take the rest of your money and build a light box or invest in white umbrellas and floodlights to enhance the pictures you want to take.
Does this get you headed in the right direction?

just some random suggestions, but I don't think you could go wrong with either of these....
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD780IS12-1-Stabilized-Black/dp/B001SER47Y/
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-SD1200IS-Stabilized-Dark-Gray/dp/B001SER492/
And if you aren't in a rush to buy you could get the first one for more like $150 and the second I've seen lower than $100 new. you just gotta be slick with online deals... check out customer reviews on a website like amazon and that can really help you get an idea if the camera would be right for you.
I have the previous years model, the sd1100IS and it has been a great camera for glasswork and for most any other photo taking task. You could hand these cameras to a person who has never used a camera and they can still get amazing photos quite easily...
If you want I will post a couple glass photos from my camera, or you can look at videos recorded with my cam if you find my timelapse thread.

The photos in these threads were taken with the camera I talked about....

By the way all the photos I have attached on this forum have been cropped from the original size and they have been 'saved for web' to further reduce the file size. Those are the only adjustments I have done to them.
here are 4 more random photo samples: first is 4 pendants I made for the forum birthday party:puzzled: next is a cool mushroom sticker I discovered on a handrail. then a retti pendant and an outdoor shot in sedona.
hope those help... peace
