looking good. i built my own 84 sq. foot shop and it's big enough to get shit done. i think the one thing i was most happy that i did was i went overkill on the outlets and wiring. more outlets than i needed and when i calculated the load for the breakers, i figured out what i needed and then bought bigger breakers. this is one area that it's easier to go to big at first then to go back later and upgrade.

Looks like it's going to be great! The only thing that I wish I had in my shop was a system that gets the make-up air for the ventilation that comes in right at my bench...it makes it possible to keep a shop cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Good luck!

Cool, what way are you going to face your bench, or benches?:contempla

Devils Defect
01-08-2010, 05:56 PM
The bench is gonna be facing the 2 windows, right in the middle of them. Hopfully I dont shatter the windows with the heat. haha

Na, I don't think heat will be to big of a problem, but I think it will be a cool setup when your done.

Badass! I'm workin in an 8x10 shed too... Except I dont have those nice ass windows... Just open the doors and put an attic fan in a hole I made on the opposing wall... Are you gonna use any type of vent system? Looks like fun.

Devils Defect
01-08-2010, 06:40 PM
Yea, ill have a vent system put in once i make a lil money. lol. The windows are a double edge sword tho. The bigass window will be lower then the bench and people can see right in, but will let a lot of natural light in plus ventilation.

I will have to bust out my some karate action if I hear somethin going on outside while im in the house. lol :chucks:

Put a blanket, or curtin ov the window when you don't need the extra light, or when your not torch'n, so people can't see in as easy.

Devils Defect
01-09-2010, 06:41 PM

So, I started torching about in 2005 and had to stop very shortly after I started. Havent touched a torch in over 3 years. I was making mostly pendants and tourist stuff. I knew a guy that worked in a little booth downtown that blew glass for the tourists to watch. I gave him my stuff to sell for me. I have made very few pipes just for friends. Now I want to focus on making pipes.

With that being said.... Last night was spent practicing, pulling stringers and trying to figure out my regulator problem(Which Nubblet helped me with)Also trying to pull some straight points, and getting used to the torch settings.

This morning I went outside and made the first pipe and well...yep. I didnt think I would be this rusty with the flow of glass. 1 down 10,000 more to go. Anyway check it out.

In my opinion, your pipe is very nice, especially considering you haven't been melting glass for three years. Can you cut yourself some slack and just play with the glass and the flame for a while?

dorkeedude
01-13-2010, 03:17 PM
Yeah, not bad! at least its usable, and has decent shape. Are the glass's some of the Okleys from Cornerstone?

Devils Defect

Nah, those arent the oakley's. I wish tho. And thank you guys, and I am having fun, just a little frustrated at myself. lol

Hey I frustrate myself all the time! like today I forgot my gas gauge quit working, and ran out of gas on my way home.

cool dude!! good to see the shop up and running! what torch is that the lynx? also what size tubing you use for the pipe?

Devils Defect
01-13-2010, 06:13 PM
yeah, Its a Lynx, and right now im just messing around on 25x4mill. I bought some 32x2.5mill for ISO work, but thats for when im a little more confident. Tonight im gonna pull stringers of each color. lol

hippi
01-13-2010, 06:28 PM
sweet! your lucky lol i have my cheetah sittin here and i dont have a tank...gotta wait a few days for my account to go thru...

Devils Defect
01-13-2010, 06:31 PM
Yeah, i got lucky the guy that runs the shop let me have a tank while my account was being set up.

So been workin on fuming on that torch. Cant seem to find the sweet spot yet. Also had the damn regulator problem again except this time it was going from little propane to to much propane. Couldnt keep a consistant flame going. Pulled a crapload of stringers and made this.

I got to much white fume, but got some really nice blues at the bottom.

naughty pirate wench
01-14-2010, 11:18 AM
oooooh, pretty bluuuuuueeeeee...

NUBBLET
01-14-2010, 03:09 PM
it may be bad propane , you said the tank was full and sitting for almost a year , if I remember correct . For whatever reason it could have water in it or separated or some weird shit . You may need to have them purge the tank .

The fume flame I like is a little smaller semi forceful in middle softer on outside , but the white is usually a sign of heavy fume , so maybe its just rust . Lookin good tho

Fiorino Glass Art
01-14-2010, 03:19 PM
Also, different clear takes the fume differently

Devils Defect
01-14-2010, 05:38 PM
So, made one more. Just clear and cobalt coilpot on half the bowl. Getting a little more used to the flow. Oh, and if the first picture looks a little weird, its because I forgot to flatten the bottom. haha

Devils Defect
01-14-2010, 05:41 PM
Oh, and yea Nubblet, I think it just might be the old propane. It might have been sitting for a little while longer then a year.

Devils Defect
01-15-2010, 12:30 AM
A little fume anyone?

Devils Defect
